A few hits. A few misses. Those four hour work days will be nice! Maybe we'll have them by November.

May I also suggest “As We May Think” a essay written by Dr.
Vannevar Bush that appeared in the July 1945 edition of the Atlantic Monthly.
The full-text is available here...

To quote from the Wiki entry,
As We May Think predicted many kinds of technology invented after its publication, including hypertext, personal computers, the Internet, the World Wide Web, speech recognition, and online encyclopedias such as Wikipedia: “Wholly new forms of encyclopedias will appear, ready-made with a mesh of associative trails running through them, ready to be dropped into the memex and there amplified.”

Money has all but disappeared. Employers deposit salary checks directly into their employees accounts. Credit cards are used for paying all bills. Each time you buy something, the cards number is fed into the stores computer station. A master computer then deducts the charge from your bank balance.
Computers not only keep track of money, they make spending it easier. TV-telephone shopping is common.

........Medical examinations are a matter of sitting in a diagnostic chair for a minute or two, then receiving a full health report......
Close. Today, a series of blood samples are taken and inserted into analytic devices that make the determination and spit out the report. It is medicine by the numbers.

2008: All Computers will be interconnected in a huge community where shopping, information, news, entertainment and discussions can be done. Most of the traffic is porn related.

Amazing predictions! I notice that two things people like to do—drive and cook—have not yet become automated to the degree predicted, though.

You simply press a combination of buttons and the pages flash on your home screen. The worlds information is available to you almost instantaneously. Yeah they got that one pretty much right.
