Are you an authentic white person? For the answer to that, we need to go to the current authentic black community. They are the ones who define who is and who is not an authentic member of their race. Be they black or white. (Since Chinese, Japanese, Vietnamese, etc., have not yet amassed political clout, they're excluded from being categorised by their skin color.)
The reigning Black elite have decided that authentic 'typical white people' are inherently racist. As Obama so blithely stated, this prejudice is inbred and rears its ugly head every time a white encounters a black. For those whites who believe reparations to date, in the form of trillions of dollars, affirmative action, special dispensations and a color-coded justice system, have adequately addressed the shame of their ancestors' sin of slavery, well, it hasn't. We are informed that racial prejudice is still rampant in American society. If you don't see it, its because it has taken the more insidious form of 'institutional racism.'
ah, a Sicilian livin la dolce vida, the good life, did that perhaps involve the business end of a tommy gun? (sarcasm turned to the max)... I’m 1/2 Italian so I can’t help crack the mafia jokes sometimes (there’s no such thing as the mafia!!)..
Hispanics are white.
another typical here.....just typical...
you would think Barry Bama would be closer to his mother, since his bio dad ditched him...and his typical white grandparents raised him.....
does Tiger Woods ever even allude to his mother who is a Thai?....
it seems a large percentage of blacks are of mixed blood.....but I guess they get more benefits if they say their black...
As for Tiger, he really doesn’t allude to a racial identity at all. He doesn't promote himself as a “black golfer”, (though others may), just as himself, a guy who happens to have ancestors of several races. That's something I have always really respected about him, and a big part of his popular success, IMO.
And where, may I ask, was he from?
My son is a senior at UCLA and says the same thing - the black students from Africa are hard working, hard studying, polite, and a pleasure to be around. The American blacks mystify them, and they don’t hang around together. The Africans hang with their white/asian/indian dorm mates.
My girlfriend’s grandparents came here in the early 1900’s from Sciaca, Sicily, and settled in Bay Ridge, New York.
Oh, the recipes and food that family makes!! And the funny superstitions!

As a knuckle-dragging Neanderthal, I say “Welcome Home Brother”.
Long time ago, when filling out form for PSAT (I think) i missed little circle for caucasian. Instead filled in Puerto Rican.
I received at least 30 -40 applications a week for colleges.
When they found out was a mistake there were no openings.
At least they "tan", I just burn. : )
I know a guy like that who claims to have gotten a full ride AA scholarship at Tulane for his senior year, once his U.S. citizenship came through. The black admin in the student aid office was not amused.
In the Atlanta-area, there’s a pretty big South African Jewish emigre population, that has been building since the late-70s/early-80s.
I honestly think that post-WWII, Jews are tuned in to start getting out of untenable situations early.
Hispanic is not a race ,it’s a culture.
You can be white(European decent),black , Chinese , native south American Indian , or any mix above and still be considered Hispanic if you came from a Spanish speaking country.
I know this ;) cause they always marked me Hispanic too because of my maiden name (grandfather was born in Spain to an English mother and half German half Spanish father - so Spanish last name ) BTW I was born with red hair , I have very white skin and freckles ,speak with a southern accent (don’t speak Spanish ) and they still mark me as hispanic yet when I tried to get a minority scholarship they told me I wasn’t HISPANIC enough ... go figure =P
After trying to trace my family tree for some time, I can only conclude that various bits of my ancestry are open to question. IOW, I'm a "mutt" at best, going downhill from there. I wonder if my (known) English forebearers would have been mortified at the thought of their blood commingling with Irishmen (and vice-versa), or if they both would have blanched at the very idea of miscegenation with Germans, who may or may not have been not happy about their kinfolk boinking a Scot... and would they all have raised bloody H about grafting a bunch of clodhoppers from Noordholland into the stock?
Supposedly there was a "Native American" tossed into the blender in late-frontier Ohio, and I can only imagine some ancient progenitor's musings about a descendant being a "typical white person." Well, you can't pick your family, and like it or not, their DNA ended up right here in one pale package who always thought that "American" without a perceding hyphen was a point of pride. As you said, it is - or was - "an idea."
And a worthy one.

Dogs, kitchen gadgets, sushi, farmers markets. Other than these, I must not be white after all. Don’t tell my dad or mom will be in trouble.
Bring it, Hussein. He talks of the Quiet Riots, but since '92 the American middle class has quietly been getting much better armed, with increasing numbers getting CCW.
