Gun-Grabbing DC Police Chief Races Clock
Jeff Gannon - A Voice of the New Media ^ | 3/24/2008 | Jeff Gannon

Posted on 03/24/2008 9:11:26 AM PDT by ConservativeMajority

The current leadership of the Washington, DC Metropolitan Police Department is an exercise in political correctness that will likely become a national laughingstock. The hopes of beleaguered citizens of the District of Columbia were dashed at the appointment of Cathy Lanier to become chief of police following the departure of Charles Ramsey, derisively known at "Chief Wiggums". Ramsey presided over the crime wave on the National Mall and could not find the body of missing intern Chandra Levy for nearly two years until a man walking his dog in Rock Creek Park discovered a leg bone. Ramsey has moved on to work his magic in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, the new murder capital of the United States.

Lanier will make everyone forget about the cartoonish Ramsey with buffoonery attributable to putting a liberal in charge of enforcing the law and providing security.

During last week's antiwar protests to mark the fifth anniversary of the invasion in Iraq, Lanier allowed the demonstrators to have free reign to wreak havoc in the downtown area. Police officers were ordered not to wear riot gear so as not to incite protesters to violence. Few demonstrators, if any were arrested by the MPD, despite obstructing traffic and incidents of vandalism. Police stood by as the "peaceniks" threw rocks and paint bombs at the military recruiting center at 14th & L Streets. The protesters were TWICE given clear passage in front of the recruiting center that was ransacked by antiwar activists several weeks ago.

Lanier's latest folly is to take a many guns as possible away from DC residents before the Supreme Court strikes down the city's total ban on handguns. In a Soviet-style sweep of the city, MPD officers are going house to house asking residents to submit to a voluntary search in exchange for "amnesty" from prosecution if a gun is found on the premises. This is how a totalitarian state would strip the people of their ability to defend themselves against tyranny.

Well, if anybody is an authority on being a national laughingstock....

That said, the content of the article is spot on. I'd love to see somebody telling the joker on the doorstep: "Even if I had a gun, it's gonna be legal before you can find any probable cause to search here -- so get lost."

Dittos, Martin:

You should at least find a new porno-name to go by, Jeff, if that IS your real name:

It would be fun to respond to the “request” in the manner you describe, but probably costly. These cops can make up charges on the spot - charges that could never stand up, but would nonetheless result in them being in your home and searching. Before being finally cleared, most of us would be destroyed financially. Law enforcement and prosecutors know and play on that fact and most of us just have to be as polite as possible while pretending to have “respect for the law”.

now if this were a republican doing this shouts of Nazi and Gestapo would be screamed from the roof tops..hypocrites.

I would give them a copy of the second amendment and tell them to "Go chase criminals of which you have an abundance." I might even suggest some actions that would defy the anatomy of the human body.

A friend of mine who is a Canadian and who lives in DC told me the police knocked on his door and asked to come in for an inspection and he asked for their warrant. They got huffy and then he told them to leave and they got huffier. Ziggy tells me he then told the DC kops that he was a Canadian diplomat and that if they did not leave he would have to notify the State Department and the Canadian Embassy of the matter. The kops grudgingly left according to Ziggy. So, yes, the unConstitutional door-to-door warrantless searches are going on in the capitol of Soviet Amerika.

“You should at least find a new porno-name to go by, Jeff, if that IS your real name:”

The “if that is your real name” was a joke (Gannon has supposedly gone by different names) and I was simply agreeing with the poster.

Question is what would have happened if he couldn’t play the diplomat card. This could be an interesting week in DC.

Chief "Crack Ho" Lanier and her dopey ideas is what you get when you promote a cop that spent most of her career suing her Department for sexual harassment. And winning!

The DC has not had a decent police chief since Home Rule.

Chief Lanier is a joke.

Mayor Fenty is another mayor making a fool out of himself by calling problems what they are not.

It used to be that the only two things DC did well was ticket and tow cars. I doubt they can even do that anymore.

What a bunch of sad, sad people. And we get to pay for it!

Stop putting liberal females in charge of anything. God, I am so sick of incompetent black people. We should be better this. These fools are older than me and don’t know ANY black history in the US.

Chief Lanier looks like a terrible tanning bed accident!

Or one of the over-cooked blonds you meet on California beaches.
