As Ohio election officials investigate illegal crossover voting in the 2008 primary, questions arise on Rush Limbaugh's role.
Limbaugh, the nation's top-rated talk radio host, was urging Republicans in Texas and Ohio to skip their party's primary on March 4 and instead cast a vote for Hillary Clinton in order to prolong the fight between her and Barack Obama.
What Limbaugh encouraged Republican voters to do in Ohio was a fifth-degree felony in that state, punishable with a $2,500 fine and six to 12 months in jail.
On Thursday, March 20, the Cleveland Plain Dealer reported that the "Cuyahoga County Board of Election has launched an investigation that could lead to criminal charges against voters who maliciously switched parties for the March 4 presidential primary."
In 2008, 2.22 million Ohioans voted in the Democratic primary, compared to 1.27 million in 2000, according to unofficial results released by Brunner's office. In contrast, 1.01 million Ohioans voted in the 2008 Republican primary, compared to nearly 918,000 people in 2004.
Michael Slater of Project Vote, a nonpartisan group that designs voter registration drives for low-income people, said GOP meddling in the Ohio Democratic Primary was a clear-cut example of fraudulent voting, which is how Republicans have defined the issue in recent years, as GOP advocates have urged state legislatures and Congress to adopt anti-fraud measures such as tougher voter ID laws.
"Here we have a real instance of spurring people on to engage in illegal election activities with a real intent to affect the outcome," Slater said. "That is voter fraud. People were encouraged to break the law. They had to declare allegiance to a political party and sign a document under penalty of perjury. Intent is what matters in voter fraud."
Cross overs can all blame their decisions on Jack Daniels.
As of right now, she CAN’T win. She doesn’t have enough delegates, nor will she. Whatever B. Hussein’s polls are now, half the country hates Hillary and will not vote for her. That stat has been consistent for years. Get real dude.
Hey, that tactic gave us John McCain as our candidate so the RATs can just STFU
How is urging people who have the legal right to vote in either party to vote for a particular candidate "fraud"? How is that comparable to requiring IDs to screen out people who have no right to vote at all? It's laughable. And does anybody believe a group that a group that "designs voter registration drives for low-income people" is non-partisan? Talk about fraud!
There’s no “ winner take all” in the texas primary. So even if what you say is true WHAT F* DIFFERENCE DOES IT MAKE?
But I dispute that claim anyway. I think it’s pure bunk.
Look, use some common sense here. We know that democrats are turning out in the polls in record numbers and republicans are not. We know that a very small percent of republicans are crossing over. Some of them are crossing over to vote for barak, some are crossing over to vote for hillary.
You do the math.
Rush is getting all slobbery all over himself taking credit for the crossovers and for keeping hillary in the race, but it’s pure bullshit. He’s just making alot of noise and getting a big kick out of driving the libs insane. So quit taking this “operation chaos” so seriously and just sit back and enjoy the show.
The dems did this to themselves. Rush is just trying to take the credit for it. I expect the libs to be stupid enough to fall for his shenanigans, but I would hope us conservatives are a little smarter than that.
The racial will put Limbaugh out of business. If you haven’t figured out Limbaugh is on a power trip of immense propotions, you aren’t paying attention. He’s also scared to death of having his attitudes about race rummaged through. He’s from Camp G. Ohio for crying out loud. That’s not exactly Sarajevo, ethnically speaking.
Anyway since you Rush lovers have to have a fight, I’ll give it to you straight. Those DR putas telling him what a man he is makes him feel big. Cialis was a bad idea. You are seeing guys who have no business being awake, paying attention, now being big shots.
Don’t drink and post.
Now,now...........they are a a nonpartisan group, says so right there in the article. /S
What’s a funky MO?
“Klintoons are good for Limbos business. Nothing more needs to be said!”
Obama is a source of content for Rush just as much as Hillary, thus your accusation is illogical.
“Rush is a selfish individual, not a conservative or a patriot he portrays himself.”
Rushs language and actions, on record for all to observe, are entirely consistent with patriotism. Any other measure of patriotism is entirely made up in your imagination, creating even more distance between yourself and rational discourse.
Corollary: Don't go to war with a guy who is syndicated for three hours every day on 650 radio stations and has 20 million listeners.
What claim is that? Pelosi calling for HRC and B.O.to make nice?
Or Howard Dean vowing to step in and insure there is a winner before the convention
Or maybe the one whereby Mario Cuomo has warned that the presidential race between Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama could be "ruinous" for the Democratic Party if the contest isn't resolved before the August nominating convention.
Or how about the lame-stream media all in a twitter about how things are not going well within the Dhummy party.
Should I go on and on and on????
I don't know how old you are or how well you follow politics, but I have not seen this kind of chaos within the RAT party since 1968 when they had the Chicago riots.
A true Conservative (never mind Republican) can NOT but help enjoy what is happening and would do whatever he/she could to not only see this condition continue thru the convention, but try and think of ways to help exacerbate same.
See post 106
Then again, being in your right mind does not seem to be part of the prosecutorial job description these days.
I didn’t want to be direct. It can be whatever you want it to be that starts with muther.
Again, this is a brilliant use of the absurd to illustrate the overall absurdity of the situation, and the publicity Rush is giving the issue will be most helpful next election cycle. Parties who allow the opposition party to vote in their primaries, and thereby help choose their candidate, are a special kind of stupid.
