Felon? No problem!

I was convicted of a felony a few years ago, but I'm out of jail now. Can I register to vote?

In order to register, you must not be a convicted felon still in custody, on probation, or on parole. If you've served all parts of your sentence, you can register.

For the first time in my life, I may actually become a RAT. Just how degrading is THAT?

As of May 10, 2007 all 50 states allow felons to vote. Restrictions apply in some states.

The two most restrictive are Kentucky, where voting rights can be restored only when the Governor approves an application for an executive pardon for reinstatement of voting rights from an individual after completion of his/her sentence.

Mississippi, where An individual, after completion of their sentence, must go to his or her state representative and convince them to personally author a bill reenfranchising that individual. Both houses of the legislature must then pass the bill, and the governor must sign it. Each year about 10 to 12 people are re-enfranchised in Mississippi.

25 states allow felons to vote after serving their sentences and parole or supervised release, 13 states allow felons to vote as soon as they leave prison, 2 states, (Maine and Vermont) allow incarcerated felons to vote.

The other 8 states allow felons to vote with less severe restrictions such as applying to county boards or waiting 2 to 5 years after completion of sentence.

Look, we’ve had our fun but Obama is wounded as it is, what with the problems with Rev. Wright. It’s time to let him limp to victory. Hillary won’t quit now anyway and some polls put her ahead.

The last thing you want is to give her attempts to steal the nomination an air of legitimacy (that could help reunite the party) by making her margins against Obama any bigger.

I have to say that Operation Chaos has made this one of the most entertaining election cycles that I can remember. The wheels haven’t just come off the Democratic machine, they’re flying into the stands and killing the spectators.

I may just participate in Operation Chaos. I’ve been unaffiliated since the Libertarian Party got kicked off the ballot here.

Do not reregister from Republican to Democrat. In North Carolina, independents are allowed to vote in either primary, your choice on election day.

Since I, for one, need the votes of Republicans and independents to wim=n my primary on 6 May, I'd like potential conservative voters in Western Carolina to retain the option to vote for me. As independents, they will have that option. As Democrats, they would not have that option.

Does anyone think it’s possible, just possible, that Operation Chaos may backfire? That is, enough GOP voters will vote for the Hildabeast and that will give her a lead in the popular vote which will give the Superdelagates a reason to give her the nomination? Then, the nightmare happens...she wins the election.

Somebody...tell me I’m crazy for thinking such a thing, and make me feel a whole lot better.

As a NC voter, I have to say that it is much more important to me to vote in the Republican Primary for County Commissioners, State Representatives, State Judges, and Governor than it is to attempt to influence the Democrats’ presidential nomination.
