In the state where she served as First Lady in the 1980s, Hillary Clinton trails John McCain by seven percentage points in a hypothetical general election match-up. The latest Rasmussen Reports telephone survey in the state shows McCain attracting 50% of the vote while Clinton earns 43%. However, when Barack Obama is presented as the Democratic option, McCain leads 59% to 30% in Arkansas.

Clinton is viewed favorably by 50% of voters in her former home state while 47% have an unfavorable view. As with all polling on the Democratic hopeful, there is a significant gender gap. She earns favorably reviews from 59% of women and 39% of men.

McCain is viewed favorably by 66% and unfavorably by 30%. For Obama, the reviews are 35% favorable and 62% unfavorable.

But...Obama is a uniter. Why isn’t he “uniting” Arkansas?

To be fair, Bush beat Gore in Tennessee. It wouldn’t be the first time the home-person loses there.

I think clinton will lose with greater difficulty than Obama. I say it that was because I don’t expect McCain will lose... and who really cares if he wins?

These are substantial changes.

Just a couple of weeks ago, McCain was behind Clinton and ahead of Obama. At that time, McCain was in the low-mid 40’s against both.

This is the first set of numbers where McCain has topped 50%.

The polls in the next week or so should reveal any damage the Wright problem has caused Obama.

She has no reason to drop out. The numbers are still relatively close. And O could stumble, fall and succumb to accidenticide. Things happen.

Her home state is IL, AR was her husband’s home state. She was never much liked in AR and played a part in his losing reelection for the Governorship in 1980.

Yeh. It isn't often that the Dems have 3 liberal candidates running in the same race.

Another article on the Rasmussen website shows this, which doesn't bode well for GOP McCain:

On Sunday, the Rasmussen Reports Balance of Power Calculator shows Democrats leading in states with 200 Electoral College Votes. Republicans are favored in states with 189 Votes (see recent daily results). New polling from Georgia and Arkansas had no impact on the projections.

Barry Hussein Obama won’t win a single Southern State. I’ve had several yellow dog democrats confess to me they will vote for McCain rather than Obama.

What is the difference between/among: yellow dog democrats, blue dog democrats, Reagan democrats?

“What is the difference between/among: yellow dog democrats, blue dog democrats, Reagan democrats?”

Back in the old days of William Jennings Bryan and FDR many of the white democrats would say they would vote for a “yellow dog” before they would vote for a Republican. Hence they were known as “Yellow Dog Democrats.”

Blue Dog Democrats are the remnant of the old Boll Weevil Democrats from the 1980’s. They are somewhat moderate but tend more to liberal on most issues.

Reagan Democrats were the Conservatives in the party mostly found in the South. I am a Reagan Democrat that later changed parties. I’ll bet most of the others did as well.
