Bill Clinton: Democratic race could come down to NC vote
Associated Press ^ | 03/21/2008 | MIKE BAKER

North Carolina voters, usually a nonentity in presidential primaries, could be the deciding factor in the Democratic presidential nomination this year, former President Bill Clinton said Friday.

"This whole thing could come down to what you all decide to do in North Carolina,"...

North Carolina was once expected to be a victory lap in a nominating process that usually ends during the early contests. But the protracted race has made the state and its 115 delegates a crucial aspect of the race.

Sen. Barack Obama of Illinois leads Clinton by only 121 delegates...

Clinton opened his day in Charlotte, telling veterans at an invitation-only event that Hillary Clinton can provide better health care for troops back from combat and will reduce the number of troops in Iraq.

He continued to highlight the military issue later in Cary, accentuating his wife's gender to emphasize his point that more generals have endorsed Clinton than both Obama and Republican candidate John McCain.

"You might wonder why that's so: Why did they endorse the girl for president? All these generals?"

Bill, you said that about Texas, Ohio and Penn. Exactly what is the truth? The "Fairy Tale" coming true?

That's great!! With Hillary & Slick back in the White House, when the troops come home they can wait on tables & be servants to these degenerates again.

Did he mention that HE LOATHES THE MILITARY?

The article says 115 Delegates not 134. Who’s right?

The Stain® is starting to remind me of Screamin' Howie Dean back on '04 ...

... we're going to South Carolina and Oklahoma and Arizona and North Dakota and New Mexico, and we're going to California and Texas and New York …And we're going to South Dakota and Oregon and Washington and Michigan. And then we're going to Washington, D.C., to take back the White House! yyyyaaaahhhhh!!!"

Pass the popcorn please ..

Technically he didn't say that. He said that she had to win both Texas and Ohio to still have a chance of winning. Slick Willy is actually playing Obama like a fiddle here. Obama SHOULD have had this thing wrapped up long ago. For quite some time, now, he's been in a position where it was nearly impossible for Hillary to catch him. BJC, then, changed the tone of the campaign. Hillary barely wins Texas and doesn't win Ohio by anywhere near as much as she needed. Logically, the talk should have been that Ohio and Texas were "too little, too late" for Hillary. Instead it was about the race being revitalized. BJ Clinton got people talking as if she and Obama were actually neck and neck again.

Bill's strategy here is to do the same thing, but convince people that by winning a minuscule fraction of the votes she needs, a NC actually makes her the front runner despite fewer delegates, fewer states and fewer popular votes.

I think it's coming down to the Convention in Denver.

Couldn't agree more. Exactly the strategy used in 1992 in New Hampshire when he proclaimed himself “The Comeback Kid”. He is delusional but since he's preaching to a choir full of delusionals they eat this stuff up.

Eagerly waiting for days and days of free entertainment from Denver!

This year we have an extrordinary race for President. I don't think McCain is worth eight seconds of my time to assist him getting elected. Nevertheless, I believe Obama stands a better chance at losing that does clinton.

If there is to be a scintilla of pleasure this year, it would be sending that succubus back to New York or Arkansas or Illinois or wherever she was spawned.

The only reason that John Edwards hasn’t given his support to either candidate is because he would be extremely embarassed if the state voted for the other one.

I agree and since I simply cannot bear another Clinton as POTUS I am rooting for Obama. He has many weaknesses once you get past the oratory and even the Reps creaky, lousy candidate can beat him. Against Hillary I don't think so.

Please oh please oh please - I hope the Clintoons pull out all the dirty tricks and surprises to ‘steal’ the nomination from Obama, then he can go off an run as an independent and seal the fate of the Democratic party forever...which will thereafter be called the Party that Hill & Bill Killed...can you say shambles?

Careful what you wish for. The Islamic terrorists will be rejoicing that "one of their own" has taken the White House. I know Obama is not a Muslim (as far as I know). But, the Muslims think that he is one of their own. Moderate and "radical" Islam want to see a Muslim in the White House. It gives the enemy perception of victory. Sometimes perception is more important than reality.
