Hillary Clinton's strategists are delighted at what they consider Barack Obama's latest stumble in the hypersensitive world of racial politics.
Obama is drawing a new round of criticism for his comments on a Philadelphia radio sports program yesterday in which he said his grandmother is a "typical white person" who has fears about black men. He was attempting to explain a portion of his speech on race earlier this weekspecifically, the statement that his white grandmother gets nervous when a black man approaches her on the street.
Obama told the radio host, "The point I was making was not that Grandmother harbors any racial animosity. She doesn't. But she is a typical white person, who, if she sees somebody on the street that she doesn't know, you know, there's a reaction that's been bred in our experiences that don't go away and that sometimes come out in the wrong way, and that's just the nature of race in our society." Obama was already drawing flak for his association with a controversial preacher in Chicago who has made anti-American and antiwhite comments.
An Obama spokesman noted that the Illinois senator was trying to say that his grandmother has the same fears shared by many in her "generation."
Clinton insiders say Obama's remarks stereotyped whites in a negative way and will further alienate white working-class people around the country, including those in Pennsylvania, which holds a key primary April 22. Obama's remarks are being criticized on Fox News, NBC, MSNBC, and elsewhere in the media, keeping the controversy going. Clinton strategists say it's part of a broader problemthat Obama has not been sufficiently "vetted" and there are many areas of his life and background that have escaped scrutiny and might embarrass him later.
Obama will lose about 20% of the Democrat vote (Compare to Kerry losing 11%) especially little old ladies like his grandmother. I cannot conceive what the man is thinking talking race at all. Race is not hope or change Obama is off his message.
“Didnt Barack Obamas wife, Michelle, make some remark in an interview about Barack could get shot buying gas?”
She also said within the last couple of weeks that she just started feeling proud to be an American.
LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I tried to tell this to my daughter who came home just now. I could hardly speak, for all my laughing.
If Obama's grandmother is a "typical white person" because she's sometimes afraid walking alone when she sees a black man, why isn't Michelle Obama wrong for saying she fears Obama could get shot?
Are white people all KKK nuts ready to kill blacks and then paranoid when we worry about being harmed by black man on the street?
“Are white people all KKK nuts ready to kill blacks and then paranoid when we worry about being harmed by black man on the street?”
Watch the local news to see the ratio or per capita crime of white on black versus black on white and the per capita black crime versus white crime to get the answer to your question. :-)
Is whitey air headed like the Dems and RINO’s or does he have lots of common sense like most conservatives.
Does whitey have biases against blacks and Hispanics like a majority of the Dems or does he peacefully coexists like most conservatives, respecting every persons rights as outlined by the constitution.
Do most whiteys attend churches where hatred of their fellow man is a Sunday diet to an all to eagerly agreeing crowd like most black liberal minorities and some Hispanics.
Obama needs to be careful about stereo typing a majority of whites who have stood firm on equal right and equal pay.
Was I offended by Obama’s remarks, you dang right but then again I find any person spewing out racism and then hiding behind some invisible shield of political correctness to be offensive.
Obama was raised by his biological white family in Hawaii (a state with few blacks) and the only thing "black" about him was the sperm from a serial bigamist that his mother had a two year relationship with.
When Obama comes to the Mainland, he decides that he needs to be "genuinely black" so he ends up in a "Hate-Whitey" church for 20 years to pick up what he believes is "typical" black culture.
The problem with Obama is that he is a typical white liberal trying to "act black". Sooner or later, such people make fools of themselves.
Yeah, by a bro'.
"Show me just what Mohammed brought that was new, and there you will find things only evil and inhuman, such as his command to spread by the sword the faith he preached." - Manuel II Palelologus
She’s right. She couldn’t get better ammo if she paid for it.
Getting the Michigan and Florida votes counted for you? Sweet!
Getting momentum back to be the anointed at the DNC race/gender convention? Awesome!
Watching your rival continue to shoot himself in the face, metaphorically speaking? PRICELESS!!!!
Under the bus, to the back of the bus, potAto, potata,...
I remember Ross Perot being skewered by the press simply by using the term “you people”.
Will there be the same outrage in the media over these comments? Never.
I thought that, too. That's nuts. I see people I don't know on the street, in stores, in office buildings, and other places all the time, and don't get frightened. Good grief, the world is full of people we don't know; how would we function if we freaked out every time we saw one? But then, maybe I'm not a "typical white person."
Democrat liberals seem to have contempt for their
working class constituents.
Are you surprsied?
It’s the nature of the marxist philosophy: class warfare.
The segmentation of people not as individuals but defined within a group.
Michelle needs to speak more often. It helps... (his opponents).
Thank you Rush for Operation Chaos. McCain would never have gone after Obama’s jugular like Hillary just did.
Obama deliberately omitted mentioning that Jesse Jackson said the same thing about seeing a Black man in the street. This omission is intentional, willful and deliberate.
This guy has to be the World’s worst ingrate. Does he realize he wouldn’t be where he is without his grandmother?
