Public's help needed to find missing sex offender

William A. Blythe

By KOMO Staff

Pierce County sheriff's detectives are seeking the public's help in locating a missing Level 3 sex offender with a history of child rape and molestation.

A reward of up to $1,000 is being offered for information leading to the arrest of William A. Blythe, 29, who is considered very dangerous and at serious threat to re-offend. A felony warrant has been issued for his arrest.

Blythe has previous convictions from 1993 for three counts of first-degree child rape, three counts of first-degree child molestation, and one count of
first-degree incest.

His victims include a 13-month-old baby, a 2-year-old girl and a 7-year-old boy. During his sexual deviancy treatment in prison, he claimed to have about 35 victims, including animals.

As a transient sex offender, he is required to check in with law enforcement officials every week. However, he has not done so since Oct. 17.

Blythe is 5 feet 6 inches tall, 205 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes. He is known to frequent the Lakewood and Seattle areas.

Anyone with information is asked to call 253-591-5959. All callers will remain anonymous.

“...who is considered very dangerous and at serious threat to re-offend”

That being the case, why is this guy out on the streets?

Why was this man on the outside at all?

Because Sheriff Joe Arpaio is not U.S. Attorney General (yet)

Inside America's toughest jail (Brit paper says Sheriff Joe Arpaio's ideas would be great for U.K.)

Not Blythe Clinton, just Blythe, eh?

An interesting coincidence, that two dangerous sex offenders would share similar names.

“William A. Blythe, 29, ...
Blythe has previous convictions from 1993”

Can that be correct? That would put him in prison at 14?

Unless tried and convicted as an adult, most states would have sent him to a juvenile detention center until 18 or maybe 21 then cut him loose. And again, in most states, his juvie record would have been sealed—giving him a clean slate.

Something doesn’t sound right. I bet he is either 39 or his conviction was in 2003.

Why was this man on the outside at all?

Because some folks believe the Constitution ought to apply to everybody. Clearly it shouldn't, right?

Can that be correct?

Although it would certainly not be the first time that a tentacle of the dinosaur media got something wrong, here's an upstanding young pillar of the community who was charged with first degree murder at 14

Pachino Hill sentenced to probation, church (Judge gives violent felon choice of church or jail)

I would suggest that the most important thing in this particular circumstance would be to instantly phone the local law enforcement if you see anyone who looks even close to being similar to the posted photo and let our police friends work out whether he's the correct age and the correct person or not.  He's been on the run since October of last year and so he's had plenty of time to get fake ID, etc.

Even if the police are called for the wrong person, I'm sure that all concerned would be grateful that the public is being on their toes and trying to assist the cause of justice.

The Constitution does not prohibit (1) long sentences in connection with serious felony child rape charges (the max you can draw in GA for aggravated child molestation is a life sentence, the same for just garden variety rape if you'll pardon the term) (2) supervised work-release instead of probation and just trusting that the little lamb will check in with his probation officer (3) involuntary confinement in a mental institution if this guy is "very dangerous and at serious threat to re-offend". It's pretty well established that these perverts who target very young children are not 'curable' and are almost certain to reoffend.

You have a problem with any of that?

He looks more like 39 than 29.

Not quite prison. And it is correct.

#1 and #2, no problem at all. (There is no such thing as "garden variety rape", btw, or shouldn't be.)

#3 is ripe for abuse. President Ronald Reagan blasted the Soviets for locking up dissidents in mental wards (similar to what Solzhenitsyn related in his fictional book "The First Circle"), but if you're in favor of letting liberals deciding who's a threat to society and needs to be removed for that, then go for it and live with the results; I'd rather see everything handled under #1 and #2.

Or we just decide that there are folks to whom the Constitution doesn't apply. And be honest about it.

But I smell a rat. This guy stopped checking in 5 months ago and only NOW they're issuing a bulletin? Something else is up -- does the department need more money, perhaps?

He's found.
FERNDALE, Wash. - Police in western Washington have located a missing sex offender who failed to stay in touch with his parole officer.

Authorities found William Allen Blythe in a trailer park in Ferndale, Washington after receiving an anonymous tip. He was taken into custody without incident.

Blythe is a transient Level 3 sex offender.

Police say he served time for child rape, molestation and incest and was ordered to stay in touch with his parole officer. But he hadn't done that since last October when he reported he was homeless and living on the streets of Tacoma.
