Well, the February numbers are out for the Presidential sweepstakes. And the numbers for McCain are downright depressing compared to either of his potential Democrat rivals. (Source)
February 2008
McCain: $11 million
Clinton: $34.5 million
Obama: $55.4 million
And here are the totals through the end of February:
Total
McCain: $66.4 million
Clinton: $155.6 million
Obama: $197.3 million
And finally:
Cash-on-hand minus Campaign Debt
McCain: $3.7 million
Clinton: $24.5 million
Obama: $38.2 million
So both Democrats continue to easily outpace McCain in fundraising and cash-on-hand even though McCain is now free to focus on raising money while the Democrats are still fighting a bruising campaign battle. It seems that McCain/Feingold has succeeded in getting the money out of at least one presidential campaign. The campaigns of the Democrats, to this point, appear unaffected.
And yet, McCain seems to be increasing his lead :)
Thus showing that at some point (as we saw with Romney) it just doesn’t matter how much money you throw at a campaign - if you’re a stinker, you get smelt.
McCain gets zero support.
He is a political wimp who does not go after the political enemy.
He sends thorns to his own, and roses to his adversaries.
He MIGHT get a vote but he will never ever get time or MONEY.
This is what happens when your base consists of independents and Libs. Some of them may vote for McCain, but none of them are going to give him money.
So since he doesn’t need conservatives to win this election, we get to use our money to get REAL conservatives into office.
That’s because most of his supporters are sending to Obama and Clinton.
Sooo true, it's so apparent that he has a chronic case of the Stockholm syndrome.
I have to vote for a loser. I refuse to waste my money on him.
Every time his campaign sends me pleas for support, I send back a tersely worded reply something like this:
"Why don't you raise your money and volunteers from Democrats and moderates? After all, they are the ones who got you the nomination. They are the ones you've been most interested in pleasing."
McCain could win by default because his opponents suck so bad. But he's going to have to start hitting them with the same gusto he's used on first amendment advocates (McCain-Feingold), secure borders advocates (McCain-Kennedy) and even candidates just slightly to his right (Romney).
IMO, that’s what happens when you thumb your nose at the base. That goes for McLame, the leadership of the GOP and the RNC in DC. They’ve ignored reality for seven years and spent that time sucking up to Liberals and playing “nice guy.” We’re at war with Liberals just as much as terrorists who are both trying to destroy this country.
BTW - Freeper HokieMom came up with a great acronym for CHAOS:
Crush
Hillary
And
Obama
Simultaneously
That’s a good point. However, I can’t remember the last time a Republican presidential candidate got his clock cleaned so badly in campaign funding. Anyone?
Spending per se doesn’t indicate anything, but being able to raise money does. Over the last several Presidential elections, the candidate who raised the most money won.
He, and the RINO Republican Party can always borrow some dough from their twins, the Democrat, and party hearty.
ΜΟΛΩΝ ΛΑΒE
Poor Johnny McCain, having to catch a ride on a Greyhound as he tours around preaching open borders and the junk science of global warming.
Send him some Bush pesos.
Does anyone have a graph of contributions to the GOP before and after the amnesty debacle?
His lead is growing:
Did Karl Rove have a hand in this?
Yeah, but wait until he hits Mexico and East LA. The pesos should come rolling in.
