IMHO, the entire editorial is worth a read.

Obama’s speech is 4,916 words long. When a person has to take that many words to explain himself on a single, straightforward subject, you know his explanation is pure BS.

I’ve never seen Mr. Obama next to so many American flags in one place at one time.

At least he got that part right.

The rest of the story? Uh, my pastor for 20 years was a racist because there has been a historical problem of racism in this country.

And he’s just a part of that problem, God love him.

Now white people when they are racist that’s not funny.
But when black people are racist? Turn the other cheek.

I will not lower myself to address the racist behavior of my Uncle Pastor and that’s just what its going to take to bring this country together over race.

“C’mon. Can’t we get past this racial divisivness, and get back to talking about the important issues, like hope, and change, and hoping for change, and changing our hopes, and changing for change, and having the audacity to hope for change? Let’s get back to being the change, and embracing our hopes. Can’t we change the subject? I certainly hope so.”

He’ll have to give another speech on the plight of the gay community after the Larry Sinclair story busts open.

It's gonna be hard to get over the:
"I was raised by a white grandmother who loved me more than anything...and was a racist"

part.

He is, imo, one scary dude. Give a speech in Philly at a very patriotic site surrounded by American flags (”Hey, I don't need a flag on my lapel to be patriotic, or put my hand over my heart during the Pledge. Besides all of that, my wife is real proud to be American...right now.”).

I actually thought he would do a version of “I Have A Dream”. But instead opened with Lincoln.

“Pay no attention the the man (my crazy uncle) behind the curtain”..The Wizard of Oz

And I fear that most people failed to notice the total deflection from the main topic and got caught up in his excellent rhetoric. He's almost as good as Bill was. Or FDR or JFK. He's a great speaker, I'll give him that. Sadly, the media and his supporters are easily distracted.

It reminded me of Mark McGuire during the Congressional investigations “Let's don't talk about the past (my mentor of 20 years), let's talk about today (my candidacy) and the future ( what I can do for you.)

I fear his political “speak”. We have no one with his verbal skills.

Did anyone (but me) think it was strange that he would not do a Q&A with a network but elected to do a speech. I don’t think he is afraid of questions.

It seems he was telling us that we are racist for pointing out that his “pastor” is racist. Obama is a mealy mouthed punk.

The rest of Obama's speech was spent explaining and rationalizing hate such as Wright's rather than denouncing it

Michael Graham at the Boston Herald referred to Obama's rambling talk as his "I have an excuse" speech.
