Barack Obama is preparing to deliver a major address Tuesday on race, politics and unifying the country after being hounded by questions about his relationship to a pastor whose sermons have been laced with anti-American invective.
In a speech whose religious significance could compare to one given in December by former GOP presidential hopeful and Mormon Mitt Romney, Obama may be forced to explain the philosophy of the 8,000-strong Trinity United Church of Christ in Chicago, where the Democratic presidential candidate has been a congregant for 20 years.
In announcing the morning address, to be delivered in Philadelphia, Obama would not say specifically what he will discuss, but suggested he wants to cool down the atmosphere after incendiary remarks by his pastor, retired Rev. Jeremiah Wright Jr., blanketed the airwaves over the past week.

But Wright isn’t his parents. Wright is someone Obama found a spiritual, philosophical kinship with. Obama is a racist. He embraces racism and division. He wants to be POTUS to exact his revenge on “the man”...

This speech was a collection of talking points, all of them inserted as artfully and believably as possible.
If we were all flies on the wall when this speech was being conceived, we’d likely have heard the following:
....you need to continually refer to your white background so the whites of American understand that you are genetically one of them.
.....you need to come up with some anecdote about your white relatives that will help explain your distance from them as a youngster, how they had a racist side to them that they were probably not even aware of.
....definitely you need to cast aspersions on talk radio. Because the talk radio folks are going to be dissecting your speech so head them off at the pass. Throw in a left handed compliment like how the talk radio guys rightfully exposed faux racism but point out how they take it no further to understand that there is REAL racism out there, the kind your white grandmother had.
....you need some kind of story about a poor, under-privelaged white person in there. Canvas some of your supporters, see if they don’t know a struggling white person with a good story. The idea here is that you need the white people to understand this is as much about the poor and struggling amongst that race as well as blacks.
...NO...forget an American flag lapel pin. That would be too obvious. Have some flags in the background. That will look more normal.
....You can’t throw Rev. Wright under the bus. You need to subtly explain your initial attraction to him. No sense lying that you didn’t know about his speeches....no one believes that. So just admit you knew about it and if you do that bit about the little black kid with a white grandmother right, folks will understand...even pity.
You are talking about your parents - Obama stuck with a racist, communist-leaning, America-hating pastor. Wright wasn’t merely loving Obama like a dad and taking care of him, he was leading and heavily influencing the views and actions of thousands of followers. Would you have supported your parents leading Klan rallies? I don’t think so.
