The thunderous applause was still ringing in his ears when the state's new governor, David Paterson, told the Daily News that he and his wife had extramarital affairs.
In a stunning revelation, both Paterson, 53, and his wife, Michelle, 46, acknowledged in a joint interview they each had intimate relationships with others during a rocky period in their marriage several years ago.
In the course of several interviews in the past few days, Paterson said he maintained a relationship for two or three years with "a woman other than my wife," beginning in 1999.

One check was dated Sept. 10 the day before the 9/11 attacks and the other Sept. 24. Both are listed as "office" expenses.
Having an affair is not a political issue. Doing so on the public dime is.
Unfortunately, the NY GOP is in no position to capitalize on this given Dennis Gallagher's plea deal. (Rape trumps fiscal impropriety.)

TOO MUCH INFORMATION.....why publicize marital problems...unless of course they expect the others involved to talk......probably....sheesh.....and people wonder about the “youth”

I’m with you BLL. Paterson basically got sideswiped by Spitzer’s scandal, but he’s gearing up for the big job and doing what he can to try his best, from what I can tell. Getting this crap out in the open removes something that could be used to blackmail him in the future.

Seems like illicit sex is a bona fide occupational requirement for governor of NY or NJ. If the governors have sex with each other, then they would be candidates for POTUS/VP?

This is like the blind leading the blind (pun is intended).
Hope the Gov doesn’t have any sour moments in his career as Govenor or he’s going to have to book the entire wing of the Day’s Inn and get a large bottle of little blue pills.

Not too sure if its adultery if his wife knew about it, but I agree, it is good that he fessed up before another scandal rocked NY. God knows about it. Yeah, it's adultery.

I shouldn't be at this point, but still, I find I am dumbfounded!
How on Earth did this happen, that people now openly talk about affairs, and get into elected office? All those who do, it's mind boggling. And it's not party specific!
If anything, I have an even lower opinion of ALL elected officials. And people wonder why we are Conservatives.

That's one way to look at it. Another might be to wonder about the next time he has an error in judgment. Let's pray the people of NY don't have to suffer for it. At this point, they can only hope it is another bad personal decision, and not a political one.

"For Republicans, scandal will have them thrown out of office. Well, depends on the Republican. If they are RINO's, they are not thrown out. It is in fact, becoming more and more common, and a disgrace. They should ALL leave office. Used to be you were suppose to avoid betraying the publics trust.

Was her name Kristin? Ashley? Now we know why Spitz picked him for a running mate. Reckon they double-dated much???

The information about the checks is in the Daily News article. Here's the link.

Big deal. He and his wife were having problems. Theres no indication that he broke the law or used tax money and he admitted it. The reason Republicans and Spitzer get hammered is because of the hypocrisy. Americans will accept sinners far easier than hypocrites.
Im not defending adultery, and this guy may be a lib, but I have to give him props for candor.
Agreed.
