Sorry, CBS, it's too little, too late...

“In a set-up segment, CBS’s Dean Reynolds rhetorically asked: “the question is whether the rhetoric is so remarkable, because in African-American churches pastors often seek to rouse their congregants to self-reliance by speaking harshly about the country’s troubled racial past and the need to overcome it.””
Maybe CBS should just stop hiring people whose initials are “D.R.”

So do some here at FR who have been urging that this wait until after the primaries. Does anyone really believe that we could get this out after the primaries when Hillary is no longer locked in a death match with Obama?

What sounds idiotic to us is actually soothing to those who support Obama.
Reason #760,547,987,432,009 why the democrats/collectivist/MSM etc... are insane.

The Disciples used it, Jesus called the Pharisees whitened sepulchres or whitened tombs.
So am I to understand that Jesus calling the Pharisees whitened tombs is equivalent to The “Reverend” Wright denouncing white people?
I'm fairly certain that involves a non-orthodox interpretation of scripture.

Is it fair to assume that everyone in the congregation walks out of that church agreeing with what the pastor says?
I would assume that those who walked out before the end did not agree with him. I would also assume that those who walked out after his racist, anti-American rants did agree with him.
Especially after 20 years of it.

I musta missed something.
I read the whole New Testament more than a few times.
I don’t remember ever reading about Jesus rejoicing in the suffering and death of anybody.
On the other hand, “Rev” Wright sure seemed to rejoice in the attacks of 911.
Oh, and “Rev” Wright is NOTHING like Jesus.

I didn’t think people went to church to “agree” with what the pastor says....but to hear the word of the Lord and it’s interpretations.....Wright’s church seems more hate whitey cult than church....someone needs to start questioning the tax status of some of these so called “churches.”

Jesus rarely if ever criticized the Romans, even though they deserved it. He reserved his harshest criticisms for the religious hypocrites in power.

However, the prophetic tradition of the African-American church has been such that we have had to criticize the nation that we love so dearly in order to win our human and civil rights. We've had to speak harshly about the injustices to draw people's attention to the real problems that we've had to face. Horse puckey.
If you want to say that this nation has failed to live up to its ideals, because of this or that, well go ahead. It's tradition, and healthy.
If you want to say that the people in charge have failed to live up to the nation's ideals, well go ahead. It's tradition, and healthy.
But when you condemn the whole nation, and call for God's damnation on it, and paint the whole country with the KKK brush, then you are attacking something different from human fears, frailties, prejudices, and ignorance.
You're attacking the ideal, which many millions still hold dear. So don't be surprised when it comes back to bite you.
