I’ve misplaced the name, but there was just an excellent book out on Vietnam by a guy who lost his tenure decision as a result of its political incorrectness, and I believe is now teaching at the U.S. Marine Academy.
Probably a better place to teach than most of the Ivies, these days. Marines have some desire to get in touch with the real world.

Excellent find. I think there was a genuine split in al Qaeda about working with Saddam. Another top al Qaeda commander Mohammed Atef was said to have reached out to Saddam for WMD on a number of occasions and I believe Abu Hafs al Mauritania did as well though he might be the same person as Atef.

"We have threads where Saddam was claiming Salman Pak was counter-terrorism training."
That was a great talking point for the Jamie Gorelick crowd.
"Iraq Counter terrorism training" is about as valid as Iran nuclear power for energy

Agree that Al Qaeda was split about dealing with Saddam and the most important fact in this document is that Saddam allowed Al Qaeda to establish terrorist cells in Iraq before the war.

Thank you for your diligence and vigilance as always, jveritas.
The point you make about how slim the chances would be of Saddam NOT knowing Al Qaida is in his front yard is logical to the point of being undeniable, yet remains totally untested by our politicians and media...at least in public.

SOME of them are well educated, mostly leadership types, but you can be sure that most of the Taliban turds we’ve killed in Ashcanistan and probably better than 50% of the savages we’ve killed in Iraq fit exactly my description. The day to day AK carrying fighters are mostly poorly educated and easily persuaded to kill.

You’re correct about most of the leadership... but, as I argued to another freeper and as you stated, most of the day to day AK carrying goons are exactly as I described them.
You’re also right that we should respect the intelligence of the leadership, but they still write and speak like a bunch of morons, even when they are well educated. Islam stunts intellectual development.

IMHO, it will be twenty years before the MSM is ready to admit their BDS-influenced bias. Will there be an MSM in twenty years?

Our side should push strongly for this story “ Al Qaeda in Iraq before the war started”.
