Negropante who was Director of National Intelligence at that time did want the documents published from the beginning because he believed, wrongly of course, that there were nothing in these documents. The President and Republicans in Congress twisted his hand to put the documents in public domain. However when the UN complained about what they called a “sensitive” document regarding Saddam regime nuclear program published on the Iraqi documents website, Negropante took the opportunity to shut the website down.

Yes Saddam regime was very much aware of Zarqawi presence in Iraq and they did nothing about it, they wanted to have terrorists fighting the US forces. In fact I posted a number of documents showing how Saddam regime trained the “foreign Arab terrorists” since 1999 and how in 2003 Saddam decreed to treat as if they were special forces in the Iraqi army.

Fallujah was the gathering place for radicalized Wahhabist. This is where Saddam looked the other way. It was better to join them than beat them. He gave out lush contracts to his Baa’th party members and Jihadist with Oil for Food contracts.
