Glenn Burns said he thought it was an F3. A reporter said the Olympic torch was blown down in Centennial Park.

Witness reporting train sound lasting at least a minute and a half, then saw circling, high-flying debris at her window at 12th floor Healey(sp?) Building looking over Centennial Park. Some damage on Healey Building.

I’m curious if people believe Greensburg, Kansas was a particularly sinful den of Satan or something.

Well, you have to remember His aim isn't too good. FR posters informed us that He was bowling all those hurricanes at Judge Greer in Florida during the Terri Schiavo dispute, and He didn't even scratch the guy. ;)

I am seeing on CNN some large trees completely uprooted with tree trunks that are about 12” across.
But CNN is saying it was a F1 or F2.

It passed just south of Five Points - GA Dome, then across below the Capitol and out Memorial. That's south and east of downtown.

Any injuries of any significance WOULD go to Grady. They're the only trauma center in the area. People complain about the hospital but they are darned good when it hits the fan. ER doctors fight tooth and nail to do their residencies there.

Giggle, was Jesse Jackson in Atlanta tonight?

Sleep tight y'all and thank God that you were not injured.

Tornados generally go around downtown because of the heat bubble

There's no evidence of this whatsoever. Downtowns don't get hit much because they cover a microscopic portion of the surface areas of the parts of the country prone to tornadoes.

This was reported to be inside the GA Dome. Someone else said it was the GWCC, which is right next door. Trying to confirm.

An F1 or perhaps even an F2 could be believed.

Time to go to bed, but y'all will be in my heart tonight.

That’s one of the torches in Centinnial Olympic Park, which is about 1/4 mile to the North of the Dome/CNN

Atlanta does not have a history of or reputation for looting, riots etc.

There's a real nice looking leather lounge chair in the street in front of the Omni Hotel.

UPDATE:
Old Cotton Mill Lofts:
2 areas of the roof. Moving news crews back. Building being evacuated. Structure not stable. FD fears a possible collapse.

UPDATE ON FIREFIGHTER — Just a sprained ankle - twisted on the rubble.. Still prayers for him though — been there done that.

TAKING A BREAK FOR A FEW MINUTES HERE (Need to stretch and walk around a bit...) will be listening though, and will update when I sit back down.

That's the old cotton mill in Cabbagetown.

A lot of the buildings down there are very old and a little bit fragile. The mill structures have very wide unsupported floor spans and single-layer brick walls supported with cast iron ties. They were built as cheap industrial space, NOT expected to be converted to lofts and lived in 100 years later.

I was looking at those pics. What a mess and what a relief that more weren’t harmed. That said, seeing the one picture, where the guys were staring up like “whoa”, I had to laugh.
