I know FreeRepublic is not for profit. I understand that any changes that are done to it are "unencumbered" by any feasible plan.
But you are driving me nuts, John!
Think things through from my perspective. I don't have time to play around figuring out all the subtle differences between on Alpha release and the Next.
Do the right thing. Beta. Test. Don't break what isn't broken. Never, ever, do anything that breaks a bookmark.
I understand that playgrounds are fun, but I, for one, don't have time to coddle you whilst you are playing!
Far from it. We have a whole suite of new features coming.
Sorry, Glenn
It’s faster, better looking and more organized. I think it is terrific. and I suspect I am not alone.
Taking some getting used to, but I like it. Looking forward to ‘new features’...
Any chance you could be professional about it?
I know you are just kidding Glenn. But isn’t this complaint a little like Obama disavowing his pastor after 20 years? After all, you’ve been here since 1998.
Can’t wait to see em! :)
I love what you’ve done so far.
(Though, there is a point to someone possibly complaining that there isn’t documentation for new features, like the new search feature.)
Just wait until you get a whiff of the FR Smell-o-Vision. You'll need one pair of clothespins for your nose for voting, and other for Dem debate threads.
An FR beta website has far fewer bugs than any final release Micro$oft product has ever had. Have a martini and chill, Francis.
Right. Thanks a lot, pal.
The only thing I can’t find is a proper search function anymore. Hence, articles get double posted. Maybe I haven’t found it yet. If it’s here could someone point it out?
I'm beginning to believe John is an MS plant. Same MO. Turn it loose on the public and let them find the idiotic changes.
Documentation? LOL
My tab headings “Aricles Activity...” are cut off at the bottom and difficult to read.
You're welcome. Someone had to say it, Papa Bear. Think it over. There's some responsibility to the FR community you can take from it, eh?
What's "unprofessional" about how it's currently being done?
I would like to suggest a new category of post. Vanity works ok for items of personal concern, like the person who wanted help with housing after Katrina in New Orleans, but some people would like to post think pieces or essays on topics of general interest. Vanity then sounds very pretentious. Can’t their be another category designation. Like “personal essay” or “personal article”? Anyone have an opinion on this?
Don’t forget to wash behind your ears and do not track mud across the kitchen floor. I JUST mopped it.
Okay, wrong word, but maybe a little bit more of a clue of how to use certain features, like the new search methods. The popup box helps a LOT over the first version, but the stuff that appears in the box...what’s up with that?
Whatever. This ain’t AOL. Or Microsoft. Programming FR is one man show. John’s. And I appreciate his work very much!
