Taking some getting used to, but I like it. Looking forward to ‘new features’...

Any chance you could be professional about it?

Can’t wait to see em! :)

I love what you’ve done so far.

(Though, there is a point to someone possibly complaining that there isn’t documentation for new features, like the new search feature.)

AMEN! AMEN! AMEN! AMEN! AMEN! AMEN! AMEN!

As I've noted with assaulting virtually every other webmaster on the net that I've frequented--FREEREPUBLIC HAS THE BEST SOFTWARE BY SEVERAL GALACTIC CLUSTERS WORTH.

If the average BEST 100 sites were to emulate even 25% of FR's features it would be a several hundred percent improvement on all of them.

And, I have NEVER observed John to put up a refinement that was worse or ill-thought out. It's possible I've missed one or two but I can't recall any.

AND, contrary to a fact of life with 95% of all programming types . . . he's a far better psychologist than probably all Microslop put together.

Most techies seem to be soooo immersed in 1's and 0's that it takes a stray thought indeed to even begin to IMAGINE how real live humans will handle the results of their code flinging.

Not so with John. His stuff is well thought out to begin with.

On top of that, he solicits our inputs and actually listens and adjusts accordingly--wisely often taking some inputs with a grain of salt.

I shall be eternally grateful for John's labors hereon. I only wish we could pay him more for his labors of love.

He has more than my support and strong vote of confidence. Sometimes, he even has my awe at his skills and thoughtfulness.

So, I'd say--John--do your usually good job at ignoring the naysayers.

Sometimes it seems that Conservatives frustrated in the political arena turn to eating their own as an obsessive habit or reflex. Or else some were just born chronic naysayers. Though it seems like some have been in Olympic training for naysaying all their lives, to boot.

IN OTHER WORDS, John, PLEASE CARRY ON IN YOUR USUALLY GRAND STYLE. . . . please!

AAARG!!!

Can't you do what Yahoo does, and allow people who do not like all the cute new features, keep their old Free Republic, at least for a while?

Thanks, Nathan

If you offered “tiers” of service, you may be able to make a good deal of money from this, Jim. You deserve it. Maybe incorporate a social network, POP mail, personal blogs, avatars....

I think the new design is looking good. I wouldn’t mind a search tab next to the ones that say Articles, Activity, Comments, and Brief.

Are you thinking about avatars?
Hope not.
My 2 cents, anyway.

But the OLD search box was sooo good JimRob and now it’s just a lot more trouble.

Also, a friend with WebTV is having all kinds of problems.
