Obama's Pastor: God Damn America, U.S. to Blame for 9/11

Obama's Pastor, Rev. Jeremiah Wright, Has a History of What Even Obama's Campaign Aides Say Is 'Inflammatory Rhetoric'

By BRIAN ROSS and REHAB EL-BURI

March 13, 2008—

Sen. Barack Obama's pastor says blacks should not sing "God Bless America" but "God damn America."

The Rev. Jeremiah Wright, Obama's pastor for the last 20 years at the Trinity United Church of Christ on Chicago's south side, has a long history of what even Obama's campaign aides concede is "inflammatory rhetoric," including the assertion that the United States brought on the 9/11 attacks with its own "terrorism."

In a campaign appearance earlier this month, Sen. Obama said, "I don't think my church is actually particularly controversial." He said Rev. Wright "is like an old uncle who says things I don't always agree with," telling a Jewish group that everyone has someone like that in their family.

Rev. Wright married Obama and his wife Michelle, baptized their two daughters and is credited by Obama for the title of his book, "The Audacity of Hope."

An ABC News review of dozens of Rev. Wright's sermons, offered for sale by the church, found repeated denunciations of the U.S. based on what he described as his reading of the Gospels and the treatment of black Americans.

"The government gives them the drugs, builds bigger prisons, passes a three-strike law and then wants us to sing 'God Bless America.' No, no, no, God damn America, that's in the Bible for killing innocent people," he said in a 2003 sermon. "God damn America for treating our citizens as less than human. God damn America for as long as she acts like she is God and she is supreme."

In addition to damning America, he told his congregation on the Sunday after Sept. 11, 2001 that the United States had brought on al Qaeda's attacks because of its own terrorism.

"We bombed Hiroshima, we bombed Nagasaki, and we nuked far more than the thousands in New York and the Pentagon, and we never batted an eye," Rev. Wright said in a sermon on Sept. 16, 2001.

"We have supported state terrorism against the Palestinians and black South Africans, and now we are indignant because the stuff we have done overseas is now brought right back to our own front yards. America's chickens are coming home to roost," he told his congregation.

Sen. Obama told the New York Times he was not at the church on the day of Rev. Wright's 9/11 sermon. "The violence of 9/11 was inexcusable and without justification," Obama said in a recent interview. "It sounds like he was trying to be provocative," Obama told the paper.

Rev. Wright, who announced his retirement last month, has built a large and loyal following at his church with his mesmerizing sermons, mixing traditional spiritual content and his views on contemporary issues.

"I wouldn't call it radical. I call it being black in America," said one congregation member outside the church last Sunday.

"He has impacted the life of Barack Obama so much so that he wants to portray that feeling he got from Rev. Wright onto the country because we all need something positive," said another member of the congregation.

Rev. Wright, who declined to be interviewed by ABC News, is considered one of the country's 10 most influential black pastors, according to members of the Obama campaign.

Obama has praised at least one aspect of Rev. Wright's approach, referring to his "social gospel" and his focus on Africa, "and I agree with him on that."

Sen. Obama declined to comment on Rev. Wright's denunciations of the United States, but a campaign religious adviser, Shaun Casey, appearing on "Good Morning America" Thursday, said Obama "had repudiated" those comments.

In a statement to ABCNews.com, Obama's press spokesman Bill Burton said, "Sen. Obama has said repeatedly that personal attacks such as this have no place in this campaign or our politics, whether they're offered from a platform at a rally or the pulpit of a church. Sen. Obama does not think of the pastor of his church in political terms. Like a member of his family, there are things he says with which Sen. Obama deeply disagrees. But now that he is retired, that doesn't detract from Sen. Obama's affection for Rev. Wright or his appreciation for the good works he has done."

Obama's wife pretty much feels the same way. Let's see if the MSM picks up that story.

Yours is a good question.

A sage told me 10 years ago that Islam's mission includes the occupation of elected positions in the USA.

Honestly, at that time I was dubious.

No longer.

Is Obama a Terrorist? You decide.

Yeah, I hope so. Again, McCain is my LEAST favorite guy out there (well, RuePaul is lower), but at some point McCain will actually have to RUN against one of these two, and bring this stuff out.

This is disgusting. Jesus was a black man? Using the N word? Whites people are to blame for all of the world’s problems? America deserved 9-11??

I recently read where the mayor of Detroit used the N word for political gain and this is no different. Apparently most people condemned that mayor for race baiting, but I don’t see Obama condemning this guy (his own Pastor!!). I guess Obama will take some gain as long as it’s not in the national spotlight. Not to mention taking away guns and giving licenses to illegals. Obama is bad news.

My college students are enamored with Obama. That’s bad. They don’t vote. That’s GOOD!

Morning LUV W,
A prudent thought for the village of Causcasion hating idiots. If a group only consists of 15-20% of the American population it would not be too, logical to start race riots/wars in this country.

Good Americans (law abiding) need to understand that deadly force may be used in defense, when a person or person(s) have the ability, then opportunity and place others/your life in jeopardy.

Obuma’s church is nothing more than a domestic terrorist indoctrination center. Preaching the hatred and disdain for caucasians must be “the change” Barack/Michelle envision for America.

One might take notice that the Reverend(POS)Wright probably never served in the military, just like Barack. They have no loyalty to our country and embrace Afica as their divine country.

Barack’s church is in my opinion, an incubator for the likes of Calypso’s Louie NOI(Fruits of I.is.them)

As a Caucasian, based a on Barack’s church affliation on past questionable activies ie, non military service, alleged gay relationship, cocaine use, refusing to wear American flag lapel pin, refusal to properly conduct the pledge of alligience(hand over heart) and his racist wife views concerning America. I would not vote for this klown to be a shoe shine consultant in Harlem.

Barack leads a double life and that of a (one eyed jack) he shows only the good side in public, but the evil one is ready to spring forth upon his election to the POTUS.

“One often cannot see the Demon’s eyes until after, he comes calling.”

(Blame) is the panacea for those who are now and will continue to be failures in life. This attitude is based on their mentality and parenting from the “womb to the tomb.”

Always the best to you in life (LUV W.)

Respectfully,
NSNR

Obama now has another weight around his legs as he tries to swim through the electoral sea. His wife’s idiotic statements will cost him a million votes or more. Now his nutty, racist pastor will probably cost him more. He has to disassociate himself from his pastor if not his wife. But how can he do so after listening to and idolizing the guy for twenty years? Bless Reverend Wright’s filthy, racist, anti-American mouth. He just might bring down one of his favorite congregational members. How can you trust what Obama says about healing national racial wounds when he attends the church of someone like Wright?

"ABC news coverage"

Remember Hillary still has supporters in the media. Not as many as before, but they haven't all deserted her.

"idiot supporters"

Yes, many will be unfazed. But there are millions of moderates out there who were completely unaware of Obama's nutty, racist pastor. They were supporting Obama as someone who would "heal" the nation's wounds. How could any semi sane person believe Obama after knowing he's patronized Wright's church for twenty years. And he still regards Wright as a mentor. Sounds pretty hypocritical to me.

Maybe I Missed Something! A Message From our PASTOR, Rev. Dr. Jeremiah A. Wright, Jr., Senior Pastor In the 21st century, white America got a wake-up call after 9/11/01. White America and the Western world came to realize that people of color had not gone away, faded into the woodwork or just “disappeared” as the Great White West kept on its merry way of ignoring Black concerns. Again, Reverend Wright is the man that Mr. Obama claims got him interested in politics. He speaks of him as his political father and even his surrogate father. http://images.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://farm1.static.flickr.com/181/415419403_bb59b14a61.jpg&imgrefurl=http://sweetness-light.com/archive/obamas-pastor-called-911-wake-up-call-from-people-of-color&h=339&w=500&sz=124&hl=en&start=6&um=1&tbnid=cEtj7HoO47qLEM:&tbnh=88&tbnw=130&prev=/images%3Fq%3DRev.%2BJeremiah%2BWright%26um%3D1%26hl%3Den%26client%3Dfirefox-a%26rls%3Dorg.mozilla:en-US:official%26sa%3DN

"give him a pass"

Believe me if Fred (God Hate Fags) Phelps were John McCain's pastor, we'd never hear the end of it from Big Media until election day. They've been sitting on this news until now. But now they're being called to task. Probably some of Hillary's people in the media are seizing on this last opportunity to bring him down.

Well no, wouldn’t this be Obama’s “Sistah Souljah” moment if it were to happen? To follow the Clinton textbook, Obama strongly denounces someone perceived to be on “his” side, to show “them” (us) that such things cannot be tolerated, and that we can trust him.

But Obama is anything but a skilled or crafty politician, so I think we’re going to get a milquetoast rehash of his recent “you all got one of those old, funny uncles” speech.
