***EXCERPT***
Toting house plants, pink pajamas, drums and organic veggies, protesters in Berkeley began settling in Monday for an around-the-clock protest at the Marine Corps recruitment center this week...
"We wanted to step up the pressure," said Medea Benjamin, ... "Baghdad has a Green Zone. We wanted to create a really, really green zone with plants and bicycles and films about ecology."
A few dozen protesters are expected to camp out until Friday on the sidewalk in front of the Marines center ...
But they're likely to run afoul of the Berkeley Police Department when they unroll their sleeping bags. Police intend to enforce state laws banning camping on the sidewalk, city spokeswoman Mary Kay Clunies-Ross said.
Anticipating a deluge of protests in Berkeley leading up to the war anniversary on March 19, the city is cracking down on laws that keep the sidewalks clear and requiring all protest groups to obtain permits.
The protests don't seem to be fazing the Marines, who conducted business as usual Monday ...
"They don't bother us," said a Marine in the recruitment center who declined to give his name. "We're used to it. We don't get a lot of people coming to the office, anyway. We usually go out to meet people."
Code Pink has a full roster of activities planned for the week, including: yoga every morning at 8:30, organic potlucks every noon; nightly movies and popcorn; a bike ride around Berkeley on Tuesday; an open-mike musical jam on Wednesday; and a "send-off" to the Marines on Friday, when protesters will bring suitcases and pink berets for traveling.

These people have gone over the edge!
"They understand that we have a responsibility to keep the sidewalks clear and safe for everyone,"
...except for anyone wishing to enter the Marine OSO...
"The council revoked the declaration,...
Ms. Jones needs to check her facts. The council did NOT revoke their declaration, they only rescinded the portion about sending a letter to the Marine Corps.
The ironyof all their foolish efforts is that Marine recruitment is up...
Code Pink protests Berkeley Marines, Iraq war, deodorant
Those America hating commies just don't get it -- and never will.
It might rain Thursday and Friday for the first time in about two weeks, so nature might flush them away for us.

He said it all in 52 seconds! That's gettin straight to the point. BO doesn't mess around. !
I wish our Marines would share some food with Code Pink while they are protesting the war.
Here is my suggested code pink anti war rations, all the Mountain Dew They can drink and either sugar free hard candies or chocolate Whoppers, and I would be willing to buy some for Code Pink as a friendly gesture from Marine Veterans everywhere.
These goofs don’t realize it but they have given the Marine Corps week after week of free publicity.
What can one say but thanks to the United States Marine Corps.
The comments to the article universally condemn the Pinkos.
They really do get loonier by the day, if that is possible. The City has not formally apologized or revoked its original declaration against the Marines which means....BOYCOTT BERKELEY!
Keep on protesting Pinkos it’s costing the city $20,000 a day to keep up the loon patrol.
For all the concerned citizens of Berkeley, City Council elections are coming up this November. We’ll all be watching.
Here's a message to Code Pink and all anti-military protesters...
Why won’t Code Pink want to “Give Peace a Chance” in Iraq?
Liberalism: The mental disease that progressively devolves Man into Apes and Monkeys.
So true, we should be doing something to stop the spread of this diease.
45’s would be nice
I am serious about wanting to supply Code Pink with anti war rations of Mountain Dew and whoopers or sugar free hard Candies.
If anyone would like to assist me please help me get this ball rolling.
I can’t tell you what sort of effect this will have on Code pink, but I do think it is worth a try.
Berkeley Police Review Commission To Held Special Meeting
The Berkeley Police Review Commission will hold a public meeting Thursday night to review a petition regarding police crowd control tactics allegedly used on protestors outside of the U.S. Marine Corps recruitment office on Shattuck Avenue, officials said.
The meeting will open with a report from the Police Review Commission's Officer, followed by a 20-minute presentation from the groups World Can't Wait, Code Pink and Berkeley Copwatch, the aide said.

It'll be interesting to hear the outcome of this! I suspect the Pinkos and WWW want the police to protect them from Patriots, and maybe even dictate their own "rules".
How about some pink bouquets, too, send it all to Code Pink, c/o the Recruiters? I would love the photo op!
