Andre Carson was elected in Indiana in a special election on Wednesday, becoming the second Muslim in Congress.
Carson was elected to fill the seat left vacant after his grandmother, Democratic Congresswoman Julia Carson, died last December.
Andre Carson, 33, is a member of the Indianapolis City Council who converted to Islam about a decade ago. The first and only other Muslim member of the US Congress is Rep. Keith Ellison of Minnesota, also a Democrat, who is in his first term.
Unlike Ellison who sparked controversy for swearing his oath on a Koran instead of a Bible, Carson's faith was not mentioned much during his campaign.

Another question: I thought that Islam requires you place Sharia law first. If that's the case, how can they be sworn in to defend our Constitution, since they seek to replace it with Sharia law? I guess it's okay to lie "for the greater good of Islam".

Considering Obie spent three million bucks in the primary attacking Chris Lauzen, why wasn't he self-funding his general election? He could have pucked down $10 million easily. He sure had no problem spending millions of his own money in the last four primary campaigns to attack fellow Republicans.

Illegal immigration is the # 1 (Trojan Horse) threat to America ....... NOT alQaeda or Hamas.
After all, alqaeda will never be strong or coordinated enough to launch a Battalion of fighters across the Potomac or Delaware River to begin taking territory.
But the hordes of Third World illegal immigrants, many of whom are class-warfare subterfuge types, will soon be taking over town councils and school boards in California, Texas, Arizona, and New Jersey.
Once they have the power to control the vote, they can and will begin to chip away at our EuroCentric and Judeo-Christian traditions, laws, and society.
I don't mean to sound hysterical, but I truly believe that the first indication of the third world attempts of a silent coup will be legislation to legalize Spanish as a defacto language of record to vote, drive, take tests, etc.
Amen. Too bad the majority of Americans are apathetic at best unless it involves beer, football, or Brittany and are afraid to be labeled racists while another faction wants to give away our sovereignty because we deserve to be hated.
