New York governor Eliot Spitzer resisted mounting calls for his resignation Tuesday, as he first tried to work out an agreement with prosecutors not to file criminal charges against him.
Mr. Spitzer is among the clients referenced in a federal complaint unsealed last week that charged four people with managing a prostitution ring, according to a federal complaint and two lawyers briefed on the case. He is alleged to have hired a prostitute through the ring last month in Washington, D.C., arranging for advance payments through a shell company and paying for the prostitute's train ride from New York to Washington.
Prosecutors are considering charging Mr. Spitzer with violations of the Mann Act, which bars transporting people across state lines for prostitution. Other possible charges could include structuring transactions to evade financial-reporting requirements; violating bans on interstate travel with intent to commit a crime; and helping an illegal entity to launder money. Some of the charges carry prison terms of more than five years.

I find that very hard to believe.
He and his attys are trying to figure the best way for damage control.
But, I have a feeling, he is going to regret it.
Federal Agent: “Alright Governor, come out from under your desk, we know you’re under there”
Spitzer: “NO, and don’t try to make me, we are at war and don’t make me come after you”
He did eliminate the competition. I believe he used his influence and position
to protect this club from prosecution. This guy is as dirty as the MOB.
This morning I heard that “Gov. Kinky McNasty” (Spitzer) may have paid out anywhere between $60 to $80K for hookers, over a 8 to 10 year period.
Meaning there are a lot of people in positions of power that he's going to open his files on if they persue charges.
RIGHT!
Lets look at this from a legal perspective. The morality of his behavior is only sticking to character for those of us who have been exposed to him as a scumbag AG and doesn’t surprise too many.
Legally, he set up 2 corporations to run cash through to pay the prostitutes. He knew about banking scrutiny for large sums of money so he had 2 of these corps set up. He got caught when he was transferring funds from one to the other and realized that he should have had smaller amounts and tried to reverse what he was doing. Now, the Mann Act is set up to prevent interstate commerce of prostitutes and others. He paid to have the ladies travel from NY to Washington DC (or at least the most recent acts in February; who know what he was doing over the past 10 years and where).
He should be forced to resign, be charged with felonies and not be allowed to bargain his way out of it. He should have his law license taken away (not like Bubba who lost his for only 5 years but makes millions from speeches) and tossed in jail with the common criminals that he is. My two cents.
Oh?! And you don't have any problem believing that Spritzer would be stupid enough to get into this mess, the way he did?
Check the context again.
Well said.
New York Held Hostage, Day Three. And they’re getting what they deserve.

I agree! He should not be able to “bargain” anything!!
LOL! I get it...
I didn’t miss it...and it was very funny! I vote you for Post of the Day.
Until I stop and remember that McCain is the Republican nominee.
