NASCAR Sprint Cup - Food City 500 - Bristol - FOX Sunday 3/16/08 at 1:30 pm ET (Race #5 of 36)

The NASCAR Sprint Cup Series returns to the high banks of Bristol Motor Speedway on Sunday, March 16, for the Food City 500. One Dale is in a new ride and another Dale is competing in his final season. The last two Sprint Cup races saw two first-time Bristol Cup Series winners, in Kyle Busch and Carl Edwards. Who'll take home that big ol' Bristol Food City 500 trophy this year?

The Food City 500 is part of a spectacular Bristol race weekend, which includes the Sharpie MINI 300 Nationwide Series race (March 15) as well as Pole Day (March 14).

For the record..... a comment on the recession.

I left the East Tennessee area for the week end.

I returned on Monday and after I turned on I 81 South off I77 from North Carolina, I met a steady stream of powerful trucks pulling gooseneck trailers. I did not count them, but there were lots and lots of them.

These were the race fans heading home. Diesel at #.89 and gas at #.++ did not deter the NASCAR fans from hauling their rig to Bristol.

If there is a recession

I guess we recycle this thread for the Busch Race? It’s OK with me...

Absolutely nothing to do with Nascar, well, maybe a bit....

No race this weekend, so I'm looking at a new TV for the living room...reading reviews, etc.

Came across this gem.....

"I was completely stuneed when I saw this TV in HD.."

Obviously, not a beeber user! :)

Thats crazy

Of course you are it is. That is the past intransigent plusperfect form of the verb stune, and is improper in tense, er, sense. In fact it may be improper in every sense, er, tense, or even just fundamentally improper in polite company, which we certainly are here on the Nascar threads.

Okay. A stuner is one who stunes. A stunee is one who is stuned. Stunee is a NOUN!

Now before I get into such nouns being "verbed" as is the sickness of our age, equal to (and in my opinion further contributing factors in the downfall of society) the sullying of the noun 'obsolete' into some kind of tensed verb "obsoleted" I will just have this to say about that... stuneed is just sick and wrong.

Sick and wrong.

Post #849 was the notice, ding dong. Okay, I got busted. I'm going to the den to hang my head in shame. Or, go fetch a cold beer. Shame or cold beer. One or the other. BRB.

You need to spend some time on your knees asking, no begging forgiveness!

From our county paper, a photo caption:

The 100-year-old railroad trestle bridge over the Mission River is set to be cut up and the metal salvaged.
Plans to use it as an exhibit in the nearby park have been scrapped.

Ours are just freight, no passengers since the 60s. Well, except for the illegals and not many of them since they started locking the boxcars.
