NEW YORK New York Republicans will seek to impeach Democratic Gov. Eliot Spitzer if he does not resign within 48 hours, New York Assembly Republican leader James Tedisco told FOX News exclusively.
"We believe it is an illegal activity he has been involved with," Tedisco said speaking on FOX's "Hannity & Colmes."
"We're going to give him 24 to 48 hours to do the right thing, and the right thing is to resign because he has been compromised. If that's not the case ... we're going to ask the speaker to start impeachment proceedings," Tedisco said Monday night.

If they failed to impeach, prosecution will ensue.
New York will have the first sitting governor, governing from prison.
Priceless!

Don't get too optimistic. Talk is cheap. Spitzer won't resign unless a gun is pointed at his head. Almost literally. And the RINOS don't have it in them to get the job done.

The spin from Barbara Walters on The View was sickening. She made him out to be yet another moral hypocrite. These moral crusaders fall from grace yada yada yada. She was trying to spin this lib dems fall into a conservative fall.
I caught a few seconds of an "infidelity" discussion on the Today Show...one expert was telling Meredith that his cheeks and furrowed brow indicated high testosterone and that was the cause.

Each and EVERY opportunity to bust a politician for malfeasance in office should be taken..
Until EVERY politician realizes their CAREER and FREEDOM are most certainly at risk EVERY time they violate the law or acts against the best interests of the electorate — they will continue to think their positions on the fat teat of government are “entitlements”...
The era of "mulligans" for politicians has to come to an end.
A nation at war against Islamists can't afford to have unworthy or incompetent folks in "leadership" positions..
This is the EASIEST way to offload all the deadwood currently in office or on the Civil Service payroll.
In MANY ways, it is the ONLY way to offload the %$#&&^.

This violates the first rule of politics don’t kill your opponent when he is in the process of committing suicide.
To: bahblahbah
What makes you think the RATS would call for his resignation? As far as the pubbies, they are a non issue. they can't get the job done.

This is pointless. Let the Democrats call for his resignation. Theyre playing right into Spitzers hand.Putting all ethical concerns aside (as if I were a Democrat), I disagree. Tactically this is a sound move. The New York Democrats must now choose whether to defend Spitzer, or follow the moral lead of the Republicans. Either way, they are worse off politically than if they had made the call.
I will grant it gives Spitzer a chance to stay in office, but so what? He is politically wounded, and his replacement would have been another liberal.
However, ethically, it probably would have been more appropriate to wait a little longer to call for his resignation. They should only have butt in if both Spitzer and the Democrats were dragging their feet. But this is hardly a major ethical lapse.

Not on this one, Spitzer is gone because he has lost his support and popularity with N Y State dems (voters, donors and fellow office holders), Indpendents, State business leaders (especially Wall Street) and even tolerance from Repubs. He’s getting endlessly hammered by credible State reporters, he’s lost any moral authority he may have had to govern. He’ll resign shortly for sure.
To: Steely Tom
Unless Spitzer is charged with a felony, I doubt he will resign. And the pubbies certainly can't do anything about that. And the RATS wont. I wouldn’t be surprise if in a few days Spitzer says; “I made a mistake but it's time to put it behind me and move on. I plan to pull up my pants and roll up my sleeves and get about the task of doing the people's business here in New York State”. He will get a standing “O” from both parties and that will be it.

"Yes. Pubs should be hanging out and enjoying the scenery right now." The GOP is in for big trouble soon. I was listening to Laura Ingraham this morning and she had on Republican congresswoman Michelle (don't recall the last name) I think she is from Minnesota. Anyway she was telling about a vote that is going to take place today. Nancy Pelosi has created an ethics thing where she will pick three outside people and Banier would pick three outside people to investigate a politician. But then IT ONLY TAKES TWO OF THESE SIX OUTSIDE PEOPLE TO BRING CHARGES. The accused is not able to know who their accusers are. But the accused will have to use their own resources to fight the charges.
THE VOTE IS HAPPENING TODAY. BIG TROUBLE IS COMEING TO THE GOP.
