What Spitzer was up to today before the news broke
MichelleMalkin.com ^ | 3/10/08 | Michelle Malkin

This morning, NY Gov. Eliot Spitzer had been scheduled to speak to the Family Planning Advocates’ 31st Annual Conference. The abortion racketeers are seeking more money. And he was preparing to push legislators to do their bidding–before he was forced to cancel his appearance.

As payback to his abortion industry supporters, Spitzer had supported “the Reproductive Health & Privacy Protection Act (RHAPP)” under the guise of “codifying Roe v. Wade.” It would:

* Allow non-doctors to perform abortions, including a dentist, a social worker, or a health care practitioner.

* Let girls as young as 12 obtain abortions throughout all 9 months of pregnancy without ever having to tell their parents.

* Force health practitioners or Catholic hospitals to lose their medical licenses if they don’t perform abortions since they would be denying women the “fundamental right” of an abortion.

Greg Mueller of CRC e-mails:

This is only the beginning. The Catholic Church in NY is already slamming Spitzer and New Yorkers for Parental Rights, an independent, newly formed group in opposition to the bill is about to launch a statewide campaign with ads, phone calls and a YouTube video to make sure RHAPP never makes it out of the legislature. It is currently in the State Senate.
There’s more info on the bill here.

Perhaps today’s news will knock the wind out of its sails.

That would be a life-saving silver lining.

And clearing the way for what could have only resulted in butchery of the mothers, too. Social workers? (shudder)

"I love the feeeeeeelings of having the intent to do good. I am liberal. Watch me soar."

Never underestimate the Power of Prayer!

The New York State Catholic Conference holds its Public Policy Day on March 11, 2008, in Albany. Catholics from New York State lobby legislators regarding social issues of special concern identified by the bishops as calling for active engagement. The Conference Web site provides succinct briefings on all the topics of concern.

NYS CATHOLIC CONFERENCE

Perhaps this year their voices will be heard.

if you want on/off this list

But, but, but... I thought the whole rationale for the Roe v Wade decision was to eliminate the use of the unqualified abortionist?!

Otherwise the original Roe v. Wade ruling allowed your friendly neighborhood rootworker to do abortions, or maybe even your hairdresser.

Frankly, I recommend totally privatizing the abortion business ~ just strike it from the law, and remove the practitioners from any special protections of the law.

Let the free market rule!

Ahhh logic...don’t you know that logic is prohibited to be applied to liberal doctrines. It’s pesky and gets in the way when liberals want to broaden their definitions of their “rights” beyond what they originally started with...

It would allow the abortionist to determine the “viability” of the fetus, would not allow the criminal prosecution of an abortionist who maims or kills a woman, and would force religious institutions to pay for abortion coverage in their health insurance policies. (from “Life News”)

He'll never be POTUS or Veep, but never underestimate the stupidity of NY voters. Just look at the two US Senators NY has.

You’re a little short on facts in that rant. Neither sterility nor maternal death are common outcomes of abortion. During the Soviet era, when the Soviet government was pouring all its resources into military production and not bothering to produce condoms and other contraceptives, researchers found that the AVERAGE Russian woman had had between 9 and 11 abortions — obviously the first 8, 9, or 10 didn’t cause sterility in most women. It was pretty much the only form of birth control being used, and the birth rate was quite low. And believe me, medical care in the Soviet Union was primitive.

He’s a democrap governor. His career is not over merely because he is a sexual degenerate and playing *ahem* with the mob who runs the conglomerate prostitution ring which extends world-wide. The democrats have no moral fiber thus he cannot violate such a thing. He will be lampooned and the entire nature of his criminality and degeneracy will be forgotten by the leftist democrap party. After all, can’t have the democrat governor of a state with two democrat sentaors somehow replaced with a Republican! The democrat party that now exists (as contrasting the one which was replaced) sees nothing amiss in Spitzer’s criminality or degeneracy.

Fact check: If you follow the link in the article to the actual text of the bill, there is absolutely nothing there to suggest that dentists or social workers would acquire authority to perform abortions. I think Michelle has been suckered into believing some hysterical rantings that aren’t based on fact. Probably somebody, somewhere figured out that various provisions in existing law might allow social workers and dentists, under certain circumstances, to prescribe or dispense the “morning after pill”. The idea that the state legislature would even consider a bill that authorized social workers and dentists to perform surgical abortions, or even RU-486 abortions, is ludicrous on its face.

Thank you. It seems a little frightening that a dentist or social worker could be mucking around with my insides....and I would hope legislators are not that ignorant. Thank you for the information.

Gosh, I sure hope you’re right. I am old enough to recall the horror stories of young girls mutilated by untrained “abortionists” and I didn’t see how it would be much different with “social workers.” The mere thought is just terrible...
