Tucker Canceled; Other (MSNBC) Programming Changes Ahead (Dinosaur Media DeathWatchâ„¢)
TV Newser ^ | March 9, 2008 | Staff

Posted on 03/09/2008 4:01:34 PM PDT by abb

Insiders tell TVNewser Tucker Carlson's 6pmET show Tucker is getting the axe, but Carlson stays on as a political contributor to all MSNBC shows at least through the 2008 election. The official announcement, expected tomorrow, will include details about who will replace Tucker at 6pmET as well as other political programming additions. Sources say the network is going to beef up its schedule with more NBC News talent.

In recent days, Jossip, as well as other blogs, ratcheted up the talk that Tucker would be replaced "for a new project." In its 33-month run, Carlson's show has had two names, four time slots and multiple formats. At 6pmET, it builds on its Harbdall lead-in on some days, but loses audience on others.

Carlson is expected to host the show through next week, with his new role and title to take effect March 17. We're told he'll also be reporting from the campaign trail.

After the jump, the Tucker Carlson time warp...

Carlson first came to MSNBC in June, 2005 as host of The Situation With Tucker Carlson at 9pmET. That show originated from MSNBC's New Jersey headquarters. In August 2005, the show was moved to 11pmET. In July 2006, the show was renamed "Tucker" and moved to 4pmET (with a repeat airing at 6pmET). In July 2007 the 4pmET hour was scrapped and it aired live at 6pmET only.

Have they been hiding that 'talent' because I haven't seen ANY talent on NBC 'News'.

Upon hearing the news Tucker decided to hang himself with his bow tie, but alas it was not a real bowtie..but a clip on model....so he put the tie and a stick...made a windmill and got a job as a wind generation turbine off the coast of Ted Kennedy’s beloved cape...bwahahahaha

I kind of liked Tucker, but Scarboro is sort of a punk, although I’m not sure why.

My objection to both of them is that (at least in my admittedly limited exposures) they are both soft-headed sappy go-along guys with few definite ideas and a complete inability to understand or explain great national security issues.

I admit that my impressions of each are severely limited by the fact that I did not find them worth watching and so did not do so for very long.

part of the MSM plan I predicted was for msnbc to push obama up to a certain point in order to hurt both hillary and obama and then help mccain.

It’s almost so perfect. Hillary had to win ohio and texas in order to keep the race going. if the MSM was really going for obama to help him win (as they clearly were before), then they would have let him win ohio and texas and the race would be over for hillary.

let’s see if I’m right...the only way this could work is if msnbc made changes and that’s what they are doing now.

When joe was in the house, he had real balls and was way right.

He got the tv gig and little by little the chemical castration began to work.

Joe is only six months away from having a real vagina and his add on boobies are being fabricated as I type.

He's gonna end up being a janet reno type lesbian, big and ugly.

We always have something to look forward to...

I am supposed to care about what happens to Tucker Carlson.

They gin this up every few months about Carlson’s show being cancelled, so lets hope it actually happens for once instead of being a ginned up rumor.

I caught his show last week for the first time only to hear his incredulity that voters would want to know whether or not Obabma is a Muslim. “What difference does his religion make?” he asked, “Since when do we ask a person’s religion in this country?”. That was enough for me and switched channels.

Tucker Carlson: Arrogant Big Media Tool (UPDATE: Who Has Lost His Show)
Filed under: General — Patterico @ 12:34 pm

Here’s Tucker Carlson, in a stunning display of Big Media arrogance: “It’s a little much being lectured on journalistic ethics by a reporter from The Scotsman.” Watch the video here.

I personally don’t like to play “gotcha” with people I interview. But the fact of the matter is that you can’t just say something stupid in an on-the-record interview and then immediately try to take it back by claiming it was off the record.

I think it’s a little much being lectured on journalistic ethics by Tucker Carlson.

UPDATE: Tucker has lost his show. (H/t steve.)

It’s a little much being lectured on journalistic ethics by a guy with no show.

ROTFL!!!!

Thomas Andrews: The pumps will buy you time, but minutes only. From this moment on, no matter what we do, Titanic will founder.
Ismay: But this ship can’t sink!
Thomas Andrews: She is made of iron, sir. I assure you, she can. And she *will*. It is a mathematical certainty.
