Metro Atlanta may get a little bloodier. Call it a sign of success.
Jack Killorin, who heads a federal narcotics task force, said his agents are rolling up drug-trafficking organizations to the point that they have decreased the quality and raised the price of drugs on the street.
Narcotics task force chief Jack Killorin says thefts are up because criminals have to pay more.
He credits last year's spike in area burglaries, robberies and car thefts in part to criminals forced to pay more for their illicit drugs.
If law enforcement someday succeeds in breaking up established drug territories the real sign of success from a metropolitan perspective it could mean a similar spike in murders, as drug organizations vie for a larger market share.
"If the market here gets unstable down to the street, then the streets will get bloody," said Killorin, director of Atlanta High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area Task Force (HIDTA). "I don't think we're there yet."

Only loosers smoke. Remember the punks in High School? Time to throw their sorry bottoms in jail with the rest of the scum.
Loosers? What’s a looser and why do they smoke? Do they smoke tobacco or something else?
But down the bong, your brain is fried already.
Never happen - not in a thousand years. The Drug Warriors would be out of a job, along with the Drug War industry. Power hungry bureaucrats would lose their excuse to confiscate property which pays for & falsely justifies an ever more invasive police state. (the domestic War on Terror seems to be a follow-on to that strategy!)
Besides, they tried to stomp out the only widely used drug in America in the 1920’s & 30’s. Not very successful, were they?
Simple economics, now as then, says that as the supply diminishes because of arrests, the price of drugs rises, enticing more dealers to bring in more drugs. Conversely, if say, heroin, were freely available to junkies via prescription, the heroin dealers (pushing to the kids) would be out of business, & the junkies would be too mellow to steal when the junk is free. Heroin use would plummet as there is no incentive for anyone to push it to new users.
See, I don't care what other people do to themselves - that's their business, but I do care that I have been burglarized 3 times in the past year, probably by desperate junkies. And I do care about being mugged while walking in the neighborhood or being in the crossfire of a gang war motivated by drug sales.
The Drug War has simply enriched the worst elements of our society, & corrupted much of the rest.
Remember all the posters on the orginal thread that said the old lady or her son, was guilty of something.
Everything else has been increasing in price, how are drugs any different.
Insanity: doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result.
The drug laws made gangs rich. We did that with alcohol 85 years ago and we’ve been doing it with the war on drugs for 30 years. Economics 101.

Interesting point...
Thank you for the compliment.
The only drugs I've seen removed are antihistamines, decongestants and to some degree....antibiotics.
They've been removed from the law-abiding citizens because some people who think like you do mistakenly believe that ordinary citizens present a problem.
Yes Sir I do remember the rant here ! We discussed such.
I used to “only” keep a handgun, my daily CHL / CCW carry rig out of the safe 24/7.
After a decade of these fake raids by criminals (you may label em police if you so desire) I have kept a cheap (when bought) bullet hose AK Clone MAK90 with a tri-mag configuration on it. That backed by some indoor and out door Rotts has given my local LEO’s & FLEA’s notice that they may call me , I will let them in too search or question if they feel the need. Nothing too hide, everything too fear........
Anything else I consider a full blown home invasion and will respond to stop the threat.

Thanks for the reminder ,, one of my kids has a cold right now and because of the drug warriors I cannot buy a decongestant for him that actually works....
