A longtime Republican district fell to the Democrats Saturday when a wealthy businessman and scientist snatched former House Speaker Dennis Hastert's congressional seat in a closely watched special election. Democrat Bill Foster won 52 percent of the vote compared to 48 percent for Republican Jim Oberweis. With 565 of 568 precincts reporting, Foster had 51,140 votes to Oberweis' 46,270.

Nope. Fact is, Romney was rightfully criticized for being a lying, liberal sack of manure who didn’t give a damn about the Republican party or the Conservative cause except to use the former and proclaim to being the latter as a vehicle to advance his political career and to hell with everything and everyone else. Oberweis was a clone. Where money came into play was how they shamelessly used their fortunes to cover up their past misdeeds and records and misrepresenting themselves as Conservatives. Money can buy a lot of things, but it doesn’t buy you honesty and integrity.
Unless Oberweis quits his race in November, Foster will be in there until at least 2011. If Oberweis runs again in 2010... then 2013. Lauzen is the only one who can take him out now.

By 2050, 29% of the population will be Hispanic and one in five will be foreign born. Half of the children today ages 0 to 5 are minorities. The Dems are gaining new voters every day in the thousands. Demography is destiny.
Sorry, dude. I stand on every word I said. They misrepresented themselves as Conservative Republicans. They were nothing but liberal opportunists who used their wealth to advance themselves, period. Both were slapped down, and deservedly so.
I was very discouraged by this result but maybe things aren’t all that bad. I had thought other GOP held House seats had fallen to the Dems in special elections but I think this is the first one. Other Dems who won special elections replaced other Dems. We can only hope this IL race was an aberration. But lumping this in with losing the KY governor’s race last year, and Republicans losing their majority in the VA state senate, the trends are not good.

I fear that you are right. the Dem base is energized and mobilizing. The "give me, give me" crowd is going to show up in November in record numbers. The Big Government Republicans have turned their back on their principles.

I tire of you holier than thou people who use that line constantly. "You get the government you deserve", or "You get what you voted for", I beg to differ. I vote, and have voted for over 30 years. I don't think I deserve what I've been getting.

Oberweis promoted stopping illegal immigration and stopping wasteful spending. He touted his success in the private sector of creating jobs in the district. The problem is he has a habit of flip-flopping in the issues in previous elections. For example, he called pro-life Catholics, the American Taliban in 2002. After losing the election, he said he was pro-life all along.
...so you agree that Rush is simply sucker-punching the electorate and pushing for a Hillary win that will more easily be parodied. And his daily fare will be more valuable than if PC shuts him up forever under a Pres.Obama...
