Gore-Obama ‘08 — the GOP Nightmare Scenario
Patterico's Pontifications ^ | March 07, 2008 | Staff

Posted on 03/08/2008 10:32:06 AM PST by jdm

This is the nightmare scenario that wakes me up at night.  And its so easy to see it develop.

Hillary wins big in Penn and PR, while Obama continues to sweep up some smaller states.  Neither is close to the majority number, but Hillary refuses to give in.

More and more polling begins to suggest — as Pew does today — that Obama will lose a significant number of blue collar “Archie Bunker” democrats that are currently supporting Hillary, but will vote for McCain before Obama.  This will give McCain states like Ohio, Michigan, and Penn.

Superdelegate/party leaders will know that they cannot alienate African-American voters by stealing the nomination away from Obama that he seems to have won, so voting for Hillary when she is behind in vote total and elected delegates is not an option.

Above and beyond that, they really just don’t want a rerun of the Billary Show in the WH.

Obama cannot put together an electoral map in November that produces a winning number.

Solution — go to Obama and ask him to take the No. 2 slot with Al Gore as the nominee.  Obama then releases his delegates to vote for Gore after the Superdelegates place his name in nomination.

Gore then wins the nomination on the first ballot, and the Billary vampire is slain.

The African-American voter is satisfied because Obama is satisfied to be No. 2 behind Gore while he waits his turn.

Gore holds on to the “Archie Bunker” democrats that are backing Hillary right now.

Gore rolls to a 52-48 win over McCain with 350 electoral votes, winning states like Virginia, Ohio, Missouri, NewHampshire, and maybe even Florida, while holding on to everything he and Kerry won before.

The Republican nominee (McCain from all appearances) will be the next President.

Yep, any way you cut the deck America loses. The next four years at the least will probably be the worst four years the old republic has weathered except for the War Between the States, and it may never recover if Sheik Obama has his way.

I never thought I would ever be rooting for a Clinton to win any office higher than hog chittlins inspector, but I was actually hoping Hillary would kill off the Obama nightmare before it reached critical mass. But she had too little support from her former worshipers, and it's too late to stop him now. God help us all if Barack Hussein Obama ever sits down behind the oval office desk unless it's part of a bad practical joke on the entire American nation.

Obamastan won’t win. God has not yet forsaken America. There’s too many of his praying people here. The day will come, but we’re not there yet. (I think America’s disappearance will coincide with the rapture of the church and the beginning of the 7-year Tribulation period - the soon-coming Day of the Lord, his 2nd coming.)

that we know of.
Are you suggesting that the Carter Administration was hiring - and doing background checks on - minors? Or that the Reagan or Bush41 or Bush43 Administrations were hiring and doing background checks on Democrats?

Anything is possible, I suppose - but just because the Clinton Administration was astoundingly corrupt does not imply that other improbable things must have happened during other administrations.

Seriously? You’re unaware of John McCain’s positions on global warming? ANWR, cap-and-trade, the $.50 per gallon gas tax, etc., etc.? Look into it. He’s been a crusader on the issue for years. It’s one of the big reasons for his “Maverick” label.

McCain could be the devil himself and I would still prefer him over any democrat.

Come on people. Lets put this in prespective.

Zogby Speculates on Gore

I don't think this is as crazy as it first looks. Of course Zogby could always be blowing smoke.

For whatever it's worth, intrade has a Gore Nomination at 3%. Neither active candidate has any real control. The unpledged superdelegates do. They are smart enough to realize they hold a lot of power until they commit. They can sit on their hands and vote "present" until they get what they want.

I agree with you. Hill letting Algore into the mix is not an option for her. She will burn the terrain before she lets that happen.
