Gore-Obama ‘08 — the GOP Nightmare Scenario
Patterico's Pontifications ^ | March 07, 2008 | Staff

Posted on 03/08/2008 10:32:06 AM PST by jdm

This is the nightmare scenario that wakes me up at night.  And its so easy to see it develop.

Hillary wins big in Penn and PR, while Obama continues to sweep up some smaller states.  Neither is close to the majority number, but Hillary refuses to give in.

More and more polling begins to suggest — as Pew does today — that Obama will lose a significant number of blue collar “Archie Bunker” democrats that are currently supporting Hillary, but will vote for McCain before Obama.  This will give McCain states like Ohio, Michigan, and Penn.

Superdelegate/party leaders will know that they cannot alienate African-American voters by stealing the nomination away from Obama that he seems to have won, so voting for Hillary when she is behind in vote total and elected delegates is not an option.

Above and beyond that, they really just don’t want a rerun of the Billary Show in the WH.

Obama cannot put together an electoral map in November that produces a winning number.

Solution — go to Obama and ask him to take the No. 2 slot with Al Gore as the nominee.  Obama then releases his delegates to vote for Gore after the Superdelegates place his name in nomination.

Gore then wins the nomination on the first ballot, and the Billary vampire is slain.

The African-American voter is satisfied because Obama is satisfied to be No. 2 behind Gore while he waits his turn.

Gore holds on to the “Archie Bunker” democrats that are backing Hillary right now.

Gore rolls to a 52-48 win over McCain with 350 electoral votes, winning states like Virginia, Ohio, Missouri, NewHampshire, and maybe even Florida, while holding on to everything he and Kerry won before.

the law prohibits him from taking VP again

Wrong:

The only restriction is the two term limit on being President. Gore could be Vice-President for as many terms as he can win.

If somebody suggests that John McCain is going to confront Al Gore or anyone else on the issue of global warming, I’m going to point out that John McCain is in lock-step with the leftists on the issue and will do no such thing. And I’ll do it every time I see such an absurd, baseless comment posted here.

That’s not campaigning. It’s telling the truth. If the truth is harmful to the McCain campaign, that’s too bad.

The irony of this is striking. That the very people running the Democrat party now, who mostly the same people so engraged in 1968 by what the Party bosses did, are now facing the procespect of being the party bosses this time that do the same things that pissed them off in 1968.

I have to admit I'm having fun with that, too, especially since Hillary, Reid, Pelosi, etc, helped stir up the rabid hard left wing to try to hurt Bush and the GOP... now the rabid left is so far crazed they are foaming out of their control.

give her the first Supreme Court seat that comes up.

That has to be the most automatic, 24/7, filibuster ever in history.

This race is about 2 seats on the court. Conservatives may not like their nominee, yet they better consider those choices on the bench.

>Stop campaigning against him, please.

Heh. You have got to be kidding me.

We aren't campaigning against the Manchurian candidate for the liberal wing of the republican party, we are simply pointing out why many of us here are not going to vote for him. - How I wish that were not so.

Last I noted this was a Conservative forum, not the GOP cheerleading squad.

However, good luck in November.

Heh. So we are going to choose the one who voted YES to the nomination of the ACLU lawyer Ruth Ginsburg??

sorry, a better reason than that, please

Vote to confirm Ruth Bader Ginsburg to the Supreme Court of the United States? John McCain: YES.

Does anyone really expect that Sheik Obama would actually agree to that highly unlikely scenario for the good of the party when he has the nomination practically wrapped up as tight as Herman's hatband? Massed flights of pigs will be flying in V formations over the Denver convention center before that happens.

I think the way the Dems will handle getting Hillary off the ticket is to make Obama promise to give her the first Supreme Court seat that comes up.

Man alive, you could have talked all day and still not have said anything that scary. I need to go take a hot soapy shower to get that nightmare out of my head.

For a long time, the DEMOniC-RATS have been a bunch of loony-tune cartoon characters. The current bunch, Gore, Hitlery, Obamastan, are loonier than ever. How anyone can take them seriously is beyond astonishing. The Republican nominee (McCain from all appearances) will be the next President.
