I have a tube (catheter) inserted into my tool every week for chemotherapy treatment for bladder cancer (the chemo is injected intravesically rather than intravenously, meaning it is injected direct into the bladder through a catheter inserted into the urethra). No anesthesia. Most uncomfortable.

When I worked as a medic, insertion of a Foley catheter was second only to a McSwain Dart - for the “eeewwww” factor from the non-medical types.
Both are true lifesavers....

I pray for your recovery and commiserate with you. I had a Foley catheter in overnight after some prostate surgery. The next day, the doctor told me to count to three and he would remove it. He got to two and then yanked with all his might, like he was starting a lawnmower. I guess it hurts less that way, or at least for less time.

I had a cystoscopy done WITH anesthesia and it was the most uncomfortable day of my life. Good luck to you.
