...Anyone with photoshop should be able to reproduce such a graphic....

Yeah, *reproduce* it. But I have a hard time believing the girl designed it. Perhaps she had "help".

Good God man just take a look at the Obama youth site. The crescent logo is superimposed over the star field of the American flag. There it is ...plain as day...the crescent and star. Does this man have to personally behead someone in public before the Muslim sympathies are evident to one and all???

Yep. 5 points.

How can this be an accident? What does a moon symbol have to do with the USA?

Replace the star with an itty bitty palm tree and it looks like the South Carolina state flag

I wanted to clear up some of the misconceptions people have about my children’s website, “Obama Youth.” From the time my four children were very young, they have gone with me to the voting booth for every election, no matter how big or small. I have emphasized that voting is both a right and responsibility, and that many Americans have laid down their lives to ensure we have this right, as well as that of free speech. To be an engaged citizen is to honor these sacrifices. This upbringing, coupled with living in NH where every primary we have the opportunity to meet and hear presidential candidates “up close and personal,” has made my children interested and engaged in politics, particularly Josh and Sarah.

Last election, they were “Kids for Kerry.” This cycle, they are supporters of Senator Obama’s candidacy. They decided to create a website and MySpace page, about a year ago, hoping to provide a venue for other young teens to participate in idea exchange and discussion. At their disposal they had an old version of Photoshop, my laptop, and a time-limited free trial of first “frontpage”, then “dreamweaver.” With these resources, they did the best they could to create their site. Regarding some misconceptions in comments on freerepublic:
1. The kids created their logo using logomaker.com. They selected a stock logo of a circle with shading on one side to make it look 3-D and three people popping out of the circle. They colored the logo to their liking, and then added text in the font and color of their design. They chose a red, white and blue color scheme, that of our flag. The logo is not a crescent.
2. The name of their site, “Obama Youth,” was selected because their first choice, “Youth for Obama” was not available. You can confirm this through Whois.
3. No one “paid for” the merchandise, other than those who order it through Cafe Press. Anyone can upload a logo to that site, and then products are printed by the company when they are ordered.
4. The kids are simply grassroots supporters, with no connection to Senator Obama’s campaign. They are children.
5. The children are not Muslim, but are of Protestant background.

Now the kids have Dreamweaver, and are able to edit and update their site. They came upon the idea of “Youth4Obama” as a domain name, and that was available, so they are excited to transition to that name. They also have become more adept at using Photoshop, and are designing a new logo more in line with their original concept that they did not have the knowledge to do before. They are excited about unveiling their new site as soon as it is finished, and are working as they can given their school and extracurricular obligations.

As I mentioned before, people have died to ensure we have free speech. So it is certainly the right of everyone to disagree with my political views, those of my children, or anyone else’s. It is also the right of those commenting on this site to try and denigrate and attribute nefarious motives to my children’s attempt to promote civic engagement to their peers. I, for one, however, am very proud of my children’s efforts and honest attempts to motivate other young folks to be involved in this great country’s political process. They are honoring the sacrifice I spoke about earlier. Were they naive in not anticipating that some adults may try to see their logo as something it’s not? Probably, but they are, after all, children. Sometimes a kids’ website is....just a kids’ website.
Our country is facing more than a few serious challenges, and perhaps our time and effort as adults would be best spent discussing and addressing those issues. I hope this has provided clarification for all of you.

It still looks like a SC flag. Are you sure you sent this to the right person?
