What do you think? Suggestions, comments, complaints?
Search has gotten very user-unfriendly.
It also drives me crazy because it keeps changing from “Match all words” to “Match any word”.
AWESOME JIM !!
Welcome FR to the 21st century !!
And KEEP moving in this direction too!
We know the search stuff will change and bugs will need work, but it had to happen and I am PLEASED that it did / IS.
God Bless Ya!
Lookin good.
The new format is a big improvement.
The HTML header references a “http://www.freerepublic.com/l/default.css", but it seems to be 404.
If we could get an option to display the main page and sidebar text in sans-serif font (Arial, Helvetica, etc.), that would be excellent. It would make the page easier to read.
What ever happened to the view counter?
It’s Back!!!
So. I. See.
You need to get e-mails of your pals here...
Search still needs to be fixed and/or explained to us. I was able to find a user earlier, but not now. It’s tricky.
That is JOHN Robinson you are talking to...:)
Not JIM.
you need to in the Go window if you are looking for a poster enter, by:name.
Click ping at the middle tope of the pagee for your post.
I like it (the changes). Thanks!
This is how I feel. I know I saw the word EDIT at one time but I have been looking and looking and don't see it anywhere. I wish John Robinson would put the Poster Comments and Keyword Search back the way it was before.
John this only gives us all the THREADS that person has posted. We want to be able to find the REPLY'S a certain person has posted like we used to be able to do. Like now on this type of thread. I used to be able to search your name and see all the replies you might have made to different peoples questions, but now we don't seem to be able to do that. Unless I am completely missing that type of function. HELP!
It took me a while to figure out where the search bar was. Can it be more clearly identified. Don’t know if the titles displayed has improved. I asked for article on the mortage crisis, and the first thread listed was about the Kosovo crisis. Since crisis existed in the title, I can’t object that it was listed, but it should have been well down the column, not the first.
You need to click on “comments” after the posters page comes up
It now defaults to threads they have posted
click on comments, and you will see the posts, like this for this spunky poster Spunky
http://www.freerepublic.com/tag/posts-by:spunky/
On the subject of vanity threads. I think their should be an additional category for FReeper generated threads. Vanity is fine for personal threads like “Having terrible time finding a place to live in post flood New Orleans”, or “What should I know about moving to Tampa?”.
On the other hand when a FReeper wants to post a thread they have written about a serious topic of general interest, perhaps it could be designated “Think Piece” rather than “Vanity”, or some other appropriate designation.
I still am not having any luck. I put by:John Robinson in the box and hit go. All his THREADS he has posted came up. So I clicked on this one and then in the upper left I saw, ARTICLES, COMMENTS, SEARCH. Is this where you mean to click on comments? If so when I did that it just went to LASTEST threads posted.
I've noticed that you've brought back the thread hit counters, and I'd like to SINCERELY thank you very much! It's great to know how much interest a thread or topic is generating, and the number of posts a thread gets is no good indication at all. THANK YOU so very much and best wishes to you and yours :-)
Go to by:johnrobinson again
when you get there, do NOT click on a thread
above the threads, there will be choices
Articles Activity Comments Full
They are all clickable
click on “comments” and you will see his comments
Now be careful, don't click on a thread!
Looks great!
I’m terrible at the search function and have always wondered why we are unable to search for certain word(s) in more than just thread titles. Can anyone explain...or am I missing something?
