WASHINGTON - A law enforcement official says police are investigating letters sent to Capitol Hill offices showing pictures of a Times Square military recruiting station that was bombed.
According to the official, who was briefed on the investigation, the letters included words to the effect of, "We did it." The official did not know which offices received the letters.
The small bomb caused minor damage to the New York military recruiting station before dawn Thursday and police were searching for a hooded bicyclist seen on a surveillance video peddling away.

Fox again reporting that it is believed that the letters sent through Congression mail. They believe it did not go through the postal service.
You know they have to have cameras at mailing drop off areas within the congressional buildings. It is looking more and more like someone permitted into the buildings sent those letters. You do not just go into those buildings without showing identification.

Bypassed postal service. Those who received the letters may belong to a caucus that is against the war. Apparently there are over 60 members of this caucus, the sample is too small to determine if the letters were sent to them for that reason.

Sounds like it was motivated by politics.LOL... more like a warning from the RAT base to their operatives in Congress. Any comments from H.Rodham on this kerfuffle in her home-state?

Yeah okay than, it was just a coincidence that the guy in the photo was standing in front of THAT particular recruiting center, with the words, "We did it." as part of the letter.
I'll move on now.

My main beef on this thread (not with you) was all the "what did the Dems know and when did they know it" blather concerning their receiving the letters and not alerting law enforcement in advance of the bombing. I included you in the ping because you might be interested in the update.
Having said that and in spite of my previous sarcasm, I won't rule out any possible connection between "letter sender" and the "bomber". I just won't pound my fist on the podium about it.
"Coincidence" is in the dictionary for a reason.

I hear you BufordP. I’ll really would be interested in learning just how the letters got to the offices without going through the postal service.

It's a conspiracy between the Dems, local law enforcement, the FBI, the post office, and the psychle-bomber! Maybe even HuckWheatBuck!
From the AP via Yahoo,
Officials: Letters not linked to NY bomb
The lengthy anti-war letters which arrived with photos of a man standing in front of the recruiting office before it was damaged contained no threats and were sent to as many as 100 members of Congress, officials said.
Laura Eimiller, an FBI spokeswoman in Los Angeles, said an individual was questioned there about the letters to Congress and "there is no evidence linking the letters, which contained no threat, to the bombing."
A law enforcement official in Washington, who spoke on condition of anonymity because the investigation of the bombing is continuing, called the timing of the letters an "incredibly unbelievable coincidence" and said no charges were expected in connection with them....
.... One law enforcer said the "We did it" referred to the Democratic wins. The Democrats gained control of Congress in 2006.
LOLOLOL. If this guy's letter/manifesto is not linked to the bombing in Times Square, he has incredibly poor timing, bad luck, and had a very uncomfortable evening last night with the FBI. Freaky!! I'd hate to be in his circle of friends right now....I'd be expecting some follow-up interviews from the FBI just to make sure.

'We Did It' Letters Eyed in NY Bombing ...Capitol Police, FBI and U.S. Postal Inspection Service were investigating. In an e-mail to lawmakers, Capitol Police said the envelopes went through the standard security process. That process, which involves radiating incoming mail, can easily take a week or more, making it likely the letters were mailed well ahead of the bombing...
Those liars!

Peter King saying that the Capitol Hill police are STILL investigating the letters.I know Buford is gleeful this morning reading all the AP reports...LOL,but I don’t think the case is closed just yet.
I think the term is ‘plausible deniability’ and of course the guy who sent the letters from California has plausible deniability, but I don’t rule out a collusion between california guy and the bomber.
Why would anyone in their right mind rule that out so soon?

$320 to copy 32 pages for 100 lawmakers at $0.10 a page
$200 to mail 100 lawmakers using two $1 stamps per envelope
Getting the attention you deserve and spending the evening with the FBI.....
Priceless

I've read numerous articles that say the envelopes were screened and postmarked "Feb 28". No mention of city on postmark.
That a large number of stuffed manila envelopes bypassed the Capitol Hill post office sounds ludicrous to me.

That a large number of stuffed manila envelopes bypassed the Capitol Hill post office sounds ludicrous to me. That is why the report of the letters by passing the postal service made me do a double take. That would indicate that the letters somehow got to the offices by means of someone who had access to the congressional buildings.
I agree it sounds ludicrious, but given those early reports, that is where the logic lead me.

Logic should tell you that a lot of crap was thrown up against the wall. Some of it did not stick. And some people are still focusing on the stuff that fell to the ground.

How bout you manage your ‘time’ and others manage their ‘time’ however they see fit?
This is a discussion forum and this is a discussion. An exercise in free speech in a ‘Free Republic’.
Not sure why it bugs you, but you are free to be bugged and free to rant on and on about it.
I think we all want the person who did this to be caught..we all agree on that.
I hope your day is a pleasant one.

What a hypocrite. You essentially tell me to mind my own "time" when you've been calling for congressional investigations. That would be you telling others how to mind their "time". And of course all your conspiracy talk is just idle chit-chat. It's not like you're proposing how law enforcement should "mind their time" in their investigation, eh? But hey, law enforcement and congressional representation is a public function and we're both within our rights to mind their time in a way, aren't we?
But I won't. I'm confident they don't have their heads planted up their arses on this one. Nobody's calling for any of the silliness you propose. The only way I could be bugged regarding this issue is if I thought anyone involved in the investigation would entertain your thoughts. So there's no reason for me to be concerned/bugged.
You now can have the last word. You bite down like a pit bull. The only way you'll let loose is to be literally beaten over the head. Not something I'd entertain unless you were literally attached to my leg.
