Since I am talented in writing song lyrics, it seems, and is my only talent, I’ve written a song about this mysterious bomber in my anger.

Lyrics to Human Bomb
Oh you are a transcontiental social outcast.
You walk upon times square to bleat at the call of the Times bat.
Walking on the same ole line down in the dumps
Cause your girl left you to fend for yourself and nobody’s taking that away.
You rant, and you rant when you finally succeed
Even a 11 page manual cannot fit my screed
Because I know a document set your fairy tale on fire
Your paranoia from that booth gonna let you go higher
You are not no.1
You are not fun in the sun.
You are a human bomb, oh.
By the second night it hits you as you are sleeping in a cardboard box
That there is never an entryway that you cannot unlock
You brace the doors as you scale down the sewer wall
The rope and the pole combine to tantalize your fall
You are nothing without them.
You shout and grunge your hard-heavy head.
The afternoon a-flutter in a pillow bed
made from the imaginations whisked last night at a candy store
It is the world that you beg for more and more
Your chapter is anarchistic
You are dynamitistic
You are the reigning narcisstic
You are the human bomb oh
Take a date and she will leave when you go
She doesn’t want to hold hands with a madman if it is slow
Whether rain or snow there is no challenge left behind
For an insignificant speck of dirt to only put a stall on time
It finally feels like you have learned to land
Your program has shot your brain in the hand.
You realize you are just a losing kind of guy.
A one-track tape without some kind of suicide.
You are.
You are the human without the comb
You are the human without the drama
You are the human bomb.
Human bomb.
Oh.
Well, get aside.
Lights out, on the march
March to your organization
Come on march to me baby
Come on march to me
Have yourself a fun time in your destructive world
Dead and robotic.
Oh gone.
Oh gone.
Human bomb.

Latest news from Gothamist blog, NYPD: Trashed Bike May Be Times Square Bomber's

"The police think the 10-speed bicycle, left near the trash on Thursday morning, belongs to the person who bombed the army recruiting center in Times Square. The bike, left on East 38th Street, was found by some workers who heard about the bombing and contacted the police, who learned of the bike at 7 a.m. (the bombing occurred around 3:45 a.m.).

Surveillance footage shows the suspected bomber on a bicycle near the recruiting center at the time of the bombing and later near where the bicycle was dumped. More footage shows "the bomber walking with another person, although it is unclear if he or she was involved."

Police believe the suspect planned out the attack and his escape route; one source told the Post the suspect "seems to be toying with everyone." The Ross bicycle, in "fairly good" condition, has been traced to the shop where it was sold. The business is currently closed, so the police are trying to find the owner.

The police are also determining whether the bombing is linked to five other bombings in the past 11 years. Besides the 2005 British Consulate and October 2007 Mexican Consulate bombings, where a bicyclist threw a bomb in the 3-4 a.m. time period (and these bombs used black powder, like Thursday's bomb), there's also a 2000 bombing outside the Barclays Bank on Wall Street (an ammunition box - like the Times Square bomb - was used), a 1997 bomb outside 222 Broadway - across from City Hall - used "coffee cans packed with black powder" and another 1997 bombing using a coffee can outside of Planet Hollywood, when it was located on West 57th Street.

As for the letters sent to members of Congress, featuring a photograph of a man outside the Times Square Army recruiting center and a 30-page manifesto, the FBI does not believe the letter writer - and man in the photo - lawyer David Karnes is connected to the attacks."......

From the New York Post, ..."After the bike was tossed, surveillance footage shows the bomber walking with another person,".....and ....."Investigators believe the bicyclist who bombed the Times Square military recruiting station is a local man with ties to chaos-crazed anarchy groups".

“Investigators believe the bicyclist who bombed the Times Square military recruiting station is a local man with ties to chaos-crazed anarchy groups”.

The problem with these ‘chaos-crazed anarchy groups’ is that they really have nothing to accomplish. They merely want to destroy other’s ability to accomplish.

Makes sense to me.

It bothers me that they keep refering to this bomb as small. Any pedestrian that would have been walking by could have been killed or severely injured by this blast.

By the standards of Iraq or Israel, it was, in fact, a "small" bomb. Using an appropriate adjective doesn't imply that it's not a bomb or not potentially lethal.

Here's what a "not-small" terrorist bomb does:

When the abortion clinic in the south was attacked a few years ago, the bomb was no more menacing than this one, but I’ll bet you don’t find one reference to it as ‘small’.

What I object to is the overplay with regard to one incident and the downplaying of another.

The recruiting office was not a ‘protected’ target. Thus it’s attack was small. The attack on the clinic was serious and a real threat.

That’s my take on it.

From the MIT Tech newspaper:
Anti-Abortion Take Religious Violence in America to New Lows

Earlier this month, an abortion clinic in Newport Beach, Calif., was damaged by a small bomb and its manager said she later received a telephone threat that her car and house would be next.

Admittedly, this was the only relevant media reference to "small bomb" in a cursory web search.

SNIPPET: "A French couple arrested in connection with a series of anarchist attacks on the country's rail network have been linked by the FBI to a bomb attack in New York."
ARTICLE SNIPPET: "French anti-terrorist police are holding 10 alleged members of a violent anarchist movement suspected of sabotaging power cables on high speed TGV train lines.
But it now transpires that the alleged culprits were netted thanks to information from the FBI, which allegedly linked two of them to the home-made bomb attack on an army recruitment centre in New York's Times Square in March. Julien Coupat, 34, the suspected head of the "anarcho-autonomist" group, and his 25-year old girlfriend, known only as Yldune L, were stopped allegedly trying to enter Canada from the US illegally in January. It was claimed they were carrying anarchist texts in English and photos of an army recruitment centre in New York.
Although they had left the US before the bomb attack, they had allegedly been spotted shortly before at American anarchist meetings in New York. Tipped off by the FBI, France's domestic intelligence services and anti-terrorist police had been watching them for months in a tiny village in the Corrèze region, central France." The caucus would be the 60 or so congressional members of the Democrat Socialists of America, aka Progressive Caucus.
