If there's a single thread that runs through the e-mails I receive from peevish Republicans, it's that none of the current candidates possesses the conservative purity of Ronald Reagan. One could almost get the idea that Dutch was betrayed by Pontius Pilate and crucified on Calvary. But that wasn't exactly the case. The fact of the matter is that Gov. Reagan gave Gov. Jerry Brown a run for his money or should I say our money? when it came to raising taxes here in California. But, in spite of the additional revenue, he was responsible in large part for the streets of our cities being turned into public latrines by the unwashed, the unwanted and the insane when, to save a few bucks, he oversaw the closing of California's mental hospitals. He also signed the nation's most liberal abortion bill. Although he had a change of heart a scant six months later, one never hears him condemned for flip-flopping ...

What truly confounds me are those cuckoos who would prefer to see such socialists as Hillary Clinton or Barack Obama win the election than to sully themselves by voting for a Republican who was only their second or third or even fourth choice. To them I say, before proving that you place your own ego gratification above what's best for America, keep in mind that most of the Supreme Court justices are in their 70s or even, in the case of John Paul Stevens, fast approaching 90. Do you really want one of those two Democrats stacking the Court for the foreseeable future? Presidents come and go, but justices go on seemingly forever. Kennedy and Scalia have been on the bench since Reagan put them there. Stevens, for heaven's sake, was appointed during the ...

although McCain has done some admittedly dumb things, he has an 82% lifetime conservative rating according to the American Conservative Union.””
Another piece of information from the list above is that many of the votes were close. In one third of these votes, a swing of only two senators would have changed the outcome. In over two thirds, a swing of ten senators would have changed the outcome. As someone remarked, McCain is like a baseball player who gets all his hits after two outs and no one on base, and all his outs with men in scoring position.
As might be expected, ACU ratings essentially reflect party affiliation. At the halfway point, ranking 50th, we have Richard Shelby (R-AL, formerly D-AL) with a lifetime score of 74.2. But Robert Byrd (D-WV) ranks just slightly lower at 58th, with a score of only 29.6. By the time you get to 66th place, all scores are below 20.
What this means is that McCain’s ACU ratings since 1998 put him on the liberal side among Republicans. The few Republicans consistently more liberal than McCain would be Chafee (formerly R-RI), Collins (R-ME), Snowe (R-ME) and Specter (R-PA). One could expect senators from northeastern states to be more liberal since their constituencies demand it, but McCain represents the fairly conservative state of Arizona. (Arizona’s other senator, Kyl, has a lifetime rating of 96.9, and half the representatives from there have ratings of 94.7 or higher.)
How much more liberal would McCain vote if his constituency put even the slightest pressure on him in that direction?

If Team McCain is right, and they genuinely don't need us to win, come November... then: why are you all still sniveling and whining, daily, over our not being willing to vote Juan in the first place...?
Hmmmmmmm.
A party whose only slogan is:
OUR SCUMBAG NOT AS BAD AS THEIR SCUMBAG!
deserves to be destroyed.
And what happens next. The ‘rats take complete control. Brilliant!!!!
Those are the people who voted for McCain.
I DON’T want hillary/obama to win. I am just extremely disappointed in the choices we were offered. When lieberman, the former gore partner decided to stand behind mccain and support him, it made me wonder, “WHY is he supporting a republican?”. Why would republicans take lieberman’s support after what happened in 2000? I realize lieberman may be offended by obama’s pastor(who has travelled with louis farrakhan), that could be why he’s not supporting obama. I figured that he didn’t support hillary because she’s a clinton....so...he must be supporting mccain because mccain is in align with his political stances.
This is a sad election IMHO.
If you want to vote for the Democrat a$$kisser...go right ahead and knock yourself out.
Just don't tell me that voting for the Democrats waterboy is somehow better than actually voting for a Dem and if I wasn't so stupid (or whatever the term used)...I'd recognize the differences. ROFL
and no real jobs.
and ALOT more money
AND we would be trying to convert people at airports.
“excuse me sir, have you heard Ronald Reagan’s 1998 RNC convention speech?”
Someone is in serious denial...
What is it with this McCain worship? This election is for lord McCain to win or not.
Am I correct in assuming that your name means “Navy Vet”? If so, I’d call you an embarrassment to the military for being willing to let Hillary or Osamabama become Commander in Chief. Think about what that would be like for active duty military personnel. Have you just abandoned your former colleagues?
Not the first time Burt Prelutsky has taken cheap pot shots at Reagan. While that seems to thrill you, its definitely not worthy of a “PING”.
Frankly, you’re both idiots.
FACT: President Reagan’s policies in the 1980`s won the Cold War, dismantled the Soviet Empire and the communist Eastern Bloc, freeing some 500 million people from totalitarian rule; revived a battered US economy from the worst conditions since the Great Depression; rebuilt the US military; cut federal income taxes 25% across the board; reduced the top tax rates from 70% to 28%; reduced welfare state and non-defense discreationary expenditures; and reduced federal regulations like no Prez before or since. Reagan`s leadership was extraordinary, winning two historic elections and uniting America behind common goals. In the 1980`s Reagan confronted liberalism head on, fought it to a standstill and halted America’s march towards Euro-socialism.
That might work. The problem is that you can't get to the terminals anymore without a boarding pass.
Which brings up the question as to whether anyone has seen any Hare Krishna people since 9/11? I know I haven't. I haven't seen any Moonies either. Maybe something good came out of 9/11 after all.
I JUST DON'T UNDERSTAND!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Been there, done that already... After almost 30 years as a Republican.
I voted for huckabee. I’m probably the only Jew in NY who voted for him. :)
Fred didn’t have what it takes and he dropped out before I had the chance to vote for him. he was the only true conservative and even he had his problems with the pro-life plank and campaign finance reform.
We had a poor field. no way am I going to let that give Hillary or Obama the white house.
First off, because if Team McCain claims such a thing, they're wrong. And second, it adds balance to the daily sniveling and whining from the other side.
“you help make the conservative movement sound like a cult.”
Tell ya what, noob...if you can’t develop a sense of humor on your own, see if you can buy one somewhere.
lieberman supported the war in iraq. That’s why the dems turned on him, remember?
