If there's a single thread that runs through the e-mails I receive from peevish Republicans, it's that none of the current candidates possesses the conservative purity of Ronald Reagan. One could almost get the idea that Dutch was betrayed by Pontius Pilate and crucified on Calvary. But that wasn't exactly the case. The fact of the matter is that Gov. Reagan gave Gov. Jerry Brown a run for his money or should I say our money? when it came to raising taxes here in California. But, in spite of the additional revenue, he was responsible in large part for the streets of our cities being turned into public latrines by the unwashed, the unwanted and the insane when, to save a few bucks, he oversaw the closing of California's mental hospitals. He also signed the nation's most liberal abortion bill. Although he had a change of heart a scant six months later, one never hears him condemned for flip-flopping ...

What truly confounds me are those cuckoos who would prefer to see such socialists as Hillary Clinton or Barack Obama win the election than to sully themselves by voting for a Republican who was only their second or third or even fourth choice. To them I say, before proving that you place your own ego gratification above what's best for America, keep in mind that most of the Supreme Court justices are in their 70s or even, in the case of John Paul Stevens, fast approaching 90. Do you really want one of those two Democrats stacking the Court for the foreseeable future? Presidents come and go, but justices go on seemingly forever. Kennedy and Scalia have been on the bench since Reagan put them there. Stevens, for heaven's sake, was appointed during the ...

Thanks for your service. If it weren't for our constitution and bill of rights that you defended, we wouldn't have free republic. We could have an censored internet.
I don’t think it’s conservatives. I think it’s Republicans.
Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God which passes all understanding shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. (Philippians 4:6-7 MKJV)
Works for me. :-)
“... one of your own has been busily slandering a Navy vet right in this very thread, solely because the latter doesn’t want to cast a ballot on behalf of Juan “And None Dare Call It Amnesty” McCain. Good lord, but you people are flakes!”
I think you are referring to me. Please tell me how I “slandered” a “Navy vet.” I said I was disgusted with a Navy vet who would stand by and let Hillary or Osamabama become Commander in Chief of the Navy. That’s slander? Baloney. It’s free speech. Ever heard of it?
I *am* a Navy vet myself, for crying out loud (long ago).
Yes, I believe you are correct.
“Now they are using our military, to try to frighten us in to toeing the line. That really irritates me.”
“Using” our military? You don’t realize that the person who gets elected president becomes Commander in Chief of the military? Would you like to have to answer to Hillary or Obama?
It's two outs in the bottom of the ninth, there's an 0-2 count and the "bases" are empty.
Liar. You called him "an embarrassment to the military" and (not having enough of a sack to type the word "traitor" outright, presumably) snidely inquired "Have you just abandoned your former colleagues?"
I certainly can't blame you for attempting to slither away from your own already-posted-and-archived words so quickly, after the fact. I wouldn't want to claim 'em, either.
Wrong. 10 years ago, I might have agreed with you. Then came Arnold. Blame him for my non-support of McCain. When you have a liberal leader for Republicans, what you get is the democrat policies championed by your leader with a big FAT (R) next to them. You also get pressure from your leader to shut-up and follow (kinda like what all those shilling for McCain are doing here, day after day), as he joins with his comrades across the aisle and labels it "bipartisanship." In the long run you are WORSE off because you couldn't even launch a defense. Liberalism in California has advanced far beyond what any Democrat governor could have dreamed of. McCain will do the same thing, on a national level.
Its called voting defensively and cutting your losses. Sometimes you just need to do that.
Between McCain's global warming plans and amnesty, he will not offer a "defense" or "cut losses." He will be leading the charge, arm-in-arm with his democrat allies. I want to be best situated to fight him and all of his un-American cohorts that embrace those policies.
It sure is irritating.
The McCain/Lieberman alliance began long before the WOT. Check the record.
I’ve had multiple emails and mailings requesting donations for mccain. I’d rather send it to Alan Keyes. :)
I’ll bet the vast majority of active duty and retired military personel don’t want Hillary or Obama as their CinC. Do you give a rat’s ass what they want? Think about it.
Oh, by the way, you just called me a “liar” (in italics, no less). The problem is that I never lied. Does that bother you at all?
Hi RussP,
Have you noticed how erudite these purists seem to be? - common trait...
The latest FR poll shows that 65%+ will vote for McKeating over Hillary. That is higher than what I thought, but I won’t go hunting down all those people and posting threads telling them why they are wrong. It’s their vote.
McCain’s policies are what I object to—always have. I don’t know why the party-bots would expect people to give up their principles now when they’ve been saying the same thing for five years. They are as tone-deaf as McCain, and that’s tough to do!
I don’t know if McCain needs the votes or not. If he does, we’ll see him make some changes in his policies and select an acceptable VP. If he continues on with his Dem-lite platform, that is contra to the GOP platform btw, then he can live with the consequences. The ball’s in his court.
I know what you mean.
Eggsactly Calcowgirl! Every word.
