If there's a single thread that runs through the e-mails I receive from peevish Republicans, it's that none of the current candidates possesses the conservative purity of Ronald Reagan. One could almost get the idea that Dutch was betrayed by Pontius Pilate and crucified on Calvary. But that wasn't exactly the case. The fact of the matter is that Gov. Reagan gave Gov. Jerry Brown a run for his money or should I say our money? when it came to raising taxes here in California. But, in spite of the additional revenue, he was responsible in large part for the streets of our cities being turned into public latrines by the unwashed, the unwanted and the insane when, to save a few bucks, he oversaw the closing of California's mental hospitals. He also signed the nation's most liberal abortion bill. Although he had a change of heart a scant six months later, one never hears him condemned for flip-flopping ...

What truly confounds me are those cuckoos who would prefer to see such socialists as Hillary Clinton or Barack Obama win the election than to sully themselves by voting for a Republican who was only their second or third or even fourth choice. To them I say, before proving that you place your own ego gratification above what's best for America, keep in mind that most of the Supreme Court justices are in their 70s or even, in the case of John Paul Stevens, fast approaching 90. Do you really want one of those two Democrats stacking the Court for the foreseeable future? Presidents come and go, but justices go on seemingly forever. Kennedy and Scalia have been on the bench since Reagan put them there. Stevens, for heaven's sake, was appointed during the ...

If Hilllary and/or Obama get elected, it’s all McCain’s fault.
“Conservatives who refuse to vote for McCain need to read this article.”
People who claim to be conservative and yet will vote for McCain should get incurable bleeding piles down to the backs of their knees.
Don't know how anyone might not let everyone else vote as they see fit.
McCainophobes can vote how they want. McCain lovers can vote how they want. And, we can all have a dandy time expressing various opinions about it.
Just like now.
Nope, I reject your premise. I don’t want to see Hillary or Obama be president. I’m just not excited about a liberal republican being president either.
Why do I have to be excited about a crappy candidate that the republicans put up? I don’t walk lock-step like a liberal democrat just because someone tells me I have to.
Perhaps you should read what Jim Robinson wrote before posting this tripe:
McCain gets conservative grassroots support when...
The days of choosing the lesser of two evils are over. McCain has to earn our vote, and my non-vote for McCain does not equal support for Hillary or Obama.
To be fair, he admits that he is really a Rudy lover. Since he couldn't get his #1 choice, he'll now settle for McCain. He then trashes Reagan to try to prop McCain up and tops it off with "Win this one for the Gipper." LOL. It just shows that Hollywood types should stick to entertainment and not serious political discussion. Despite his book, I think there is adequate evidence that he never completely "left the left."
Trying to charm our votes from us, LOL.
In my humble opinion, you need to vote for the lesser of two evils. Why? Because if you don’t, you will get the greater of two evils. Don’t like it? Sorry, that’s reality.
I really don’t understand all this talk about needing someone to vote “for” rather than just voting “against” Hillary or Obama. Sure, I’d like to vote “for” someone, but I’m contented just to to vote “against” Hillary or Obama. I think they’ve earned it.
Unlike the Hillary and Obama camps, I’m not looking for a savior.
I’m no McCain lover, and I’m voting for him.
Or at the very least vote for either Hillary! or B. Hussein Obama and be done with it.
Rush Limbaugh, the god of conservatism will strike you down and punish you in HELL!!
Talk about blaspheme? Rush is not a God, he just tells the truth but I guess maybe you think that anyone that can tell the truth must be God!
Yup.
Yeah, it's amazing how conservatives are always to blame for the GOP's failures. Maybe the GOP should start running early primaries in red states. Maybe the GOP should tell RINOs like McCain to stop "reaching out" to the Dems and they wouldn't have this quadrennial problem of alienating conservatives. Maybe McCain shouldn't be a big fat open borders/campaign finance reform/hot tempered RINO.
Yeah, woo us some more with that sweet talk...!
I don’t need to read this and I don’t need to vote for someone that is third worse.
You need to get the point!
We ain’t voting for McCain!
GOT IT!
“People who claim to be conservative and yet will vote for McCain should get incurable bleeding piles down to the backs of their knees.”
People who claim to be conservative and *refuse* to vote for McCain need to realize that, although McCain has done some admittedly dumb things, he has an 82% lifetime conservative rating according to the American Conservative Union. They know a thing or two about conservatism.
Take a guess what Hillary and Obama’s ACU ratings are.
