Brazile: Howard Dean And Other Party Leaders Should Be Prepared To Step In By Greg Sargent - March 5, 2008, 9:22AM

Despite Hillary's big wins in Ohio and Texas last night, some super-delegates are already suggesting that a continued contest risks damaging the party and are calling on Howard Dean and other party leaders to be ready to intervene should the race get dirtier:

"Despite Obama's impressive victories in February, Clinton's comeback is based on sowing political seeds of doubt," said Donna Brazile, a Democratic strategist and one of nearly 800 party leaders known as superdelegates for their ability to determine the nomination. "In order to clinch the nomination, he must anticipate the worst attacks ever."...

Some superdelegates are bracing themselves to intervene on Obama's behalf if necessary.

"If these attacks are contrasts based on policy differences, there is no need to stop the race or halt the debate," Brazile said. "But, if this is more division, more diversion from the issues and more of the same politics of personal destruction, chairman Dean and other should be on standby."

Consider that a harbinger of what we're likely to hear from other super-delegates if the race gets uglier without significantly altering the underlying pledged-delegate imbalance between the two candidates.

Why would Obama agree to be her VP?

Because you're a heartbeat away from the top job. Every politican running for POTUS says they don't want to be VP, but if actually asked, they usually will accept it. Neither Obama or Hillary will be able to win enough delegates thru the primary process. The party leaders will decide this. And Hillary has won the big states so far, will likely win PA, and has momentum, so I think the party leaders will favor her. Obama is 46, and young enough to run again in eight years. Hillary isn't.

Obama might be ego driven, but he is NOT that irrational.

Obama is still young, and if he ever wants to be President, he'll take whatever deal he's offered.

Actually, they don’t “hide” their fascism,

they just depend on the ignorance of the public to not understand what fascism is,

nor the history of the left ACTUALLY SUPPORTING THE FASCISTS in Italy and Germany before they became militarily beligerant.

those back-room Dems don’t want a WOMAN, either

Perhaps. But those back-room Dems would rather have a white woman than a quasi-muslim semi-African American socialist like Obama.

Hillary will become hero among the Obama wing of the Democratic party when she selects Obama for VP.

Obama on the other hand has little to gain by selecting Hillary for VP ... if Hillary would even accept such a demotion, which I doubt she would.

WE SHOULD HAVE DESTROYED Hillary yesterday when we at least had a little say in the matter.

Limbaugh will rue the day when he helped keep Hillary alive.

Obama will NOT take the VP position...because of Bill Clinton. No way he wants to spend 4-8 years as a potted plant..with nothing to do

Hate to disagree with you, FRiend. The Kennedys never thought LBJ would take the VP nod, either. Being a heartbeat away from the top job can change a person’s mind right quick. The party leaders will convince Obama that taking the VP nod will unify the party, and he is young enough to run himself again in eight years. I think he will take the VP nod if offered.

>>>Yeah, how would you like to be one of the Clinton Ship Jumpers this morning?<<<

As Laura Ingraham suggested on her show this morning:

It will be fascinating to see who will be the first of the super-deligates to jump-back and if it starts a mass exodus...

Power. Because it would set him up to be a two term President starting in 2012 or 2016.

What I’m saying is that their policies are, by the very definition, fascist.

And they are open with their policies, thus not “hiding” their fascism - they just depend on an ignorant electorate to not recognize their policies as fascist.

I’m referencing, indirectly, the same source that you are.

Mega bump. Its disgusting seeing those conservatives cheering on Hitlery. But then again, one shouldn’t be surprised. Power is all they care about. Principles? Those were flushed down the toilet quite awhile ago. So if one is willing to stomach say, free pills for granny, for an election win, why not be a Hitlery fan and possibly ensure her the road to the White House?

You are dealing with LW BLACKS, here.

Yes, you will have a small segment of hard-core Obama supporters who remain upset.

But those numbers will be more than made up by the stream of additional urban-black voters, many of whom haven't registered to vote in 40 years.

Plus, there are millions of teens and college pukes who see Obama as the way to spit in the eye of the establishment.

Why do you think the Democratic registration up BIG in states across America?

Yes, these Obama supporters will be somewhat disappointed if Obama is only VP, but having him on the ticket as VP will keep them onboard and participating.

Hillary supporters, on the other hand, would likely vote for McCain if Obama were to become the Democratic presidential nominee.

Gotta disagree..There will be too much tension between the two for the next 4-5 months to EVER put them together..and Obama remembers that the previous Clinton administration effectively kept their VP from winning in 2000.
