Clinton: ‘Be careful what you wish for, Rush’ By Klaus Marre Posted: 03/05/08 09:30 AM [ET]

Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton (N.Y.), buoyed by important victories in the Democratic primaries in Texas, Ohio and Rhode Island, on Wednesday offered some words of warning to conservative talk show host Rush Limbaugh, who had urged Republicans to vote for her as the presumptively easier Democrat to beat.

“Be careful what you wish for, Rush,” Clinton said on Fox News.

For the second time during this campaign season, the former first lady survived what many viewed as a potential knockout punch from frontrunning Sen. Barack Obama (Ill.). While Obama maintains a significant delegate lead, he was unable to seal the nominations Tuesday night, having to concede another two populous states to Clinton.

“By getting the most delegates, by having won twice as many states, by having a lead in the popular vote we feel as if we are on pace to get the nomination,” Obama said Wednesday morning in an appearance on the same network. “And it will take a little longer than would be true if we weren’t running against a Clinton, but we’re still going to end up getting it.”

However, instead of being able to focus on Sen. John McCain (Ariz.), the newly crowned Republican nominee, Obama must now continue to expend his considerable resources on the Democratic primary.

The Clinton campaign is seeking to use the breathing room the former first lady was given in polling places in Texas, Ohio and Rhode Island to map out its “path to the presidency,” as a memo from strategists Harold Ickes and Mark Penn was labeled.

In the document, the Clinton team says it is “time for a second look” on the race and the candidates and argued that the “momentum has swung

Wow! For once I agree completely with her.

Yep. Can't argue with that!

I’ve always felt that the “fix” is in and no matter how the primaries go, Hildbeast will be the nominee.

If it is close at the convention, I think that Michigan and Florida are going to be a big issue. As it stands right now Clinton is leading in the popular vote.

"Those who dislike Hillary will just stay home"

Maybe, but the much larger number of voters who HATE Hillary will go to the polls.

So the IRS is ok, as long as they are harrassing YOUR enemies? That’s the way the Clinton’s think. Your jealousy is showing.

In the 16 years I've been listening to him someone has always said, "Well, if X wins, Rush will be in trouble." It never matters. It never has.

You have it backwards. In the 16 years that I have never once listened to him, I know that he built his career on the Clintons and he will rebuild it on the Clintons again.

This is another great example of McCain’s wit and why people from all sides of the spectrum like him

Priceless! "A cultural and pharmaceutical event . . . I was tied up at the time." I have to admit that's excellent.

You would still be going against the voters. It won’t happen. Clinton might be offered the VP- not Obama.

The only thing Rush wishes for is better ratings and more money to spend on his lavish lifestyle.

That is probably the truth!

The idiot Rush Limbaugh doesn’t realize he just elected President Hillary and sealed his own demise. She will end conservative talk radio with the fairness doctrine. The idiot Rush and Mark Levin too don’t realize that women are the vast majority of voters and the vast majority of the population and they will come out for Hillary and many women will register for the first time.

I sent the 2 idiots Levin and Rush emails warming them that Hillary would cancel their radio shows. Did they listen to me ? NO.

Rush didn’t tell us to vote for any conservative but now tells us to voter for Hillary. Amazing.

You guys who talk about McCain winning easily are so wrong. There is a huge Dem primary turnout-they are motivated. McCain’s potential presidency is viewed as a third term for Bush -a very unpopular president. The economy is bad. 50 % of the country is against the war. Also, McCain is a terrible candidate with much baggage. If Jesus was running as a Repub this year, he might not win.

Hillary and Obama's negative statements regarding NAFTA and globization, particularly their statements in Ohio, have alarmed many outside this country. If HRC and BHO keep it up, our foreign friends may soon pine for the "good old days" of globalization under President Bush.

I also completely agree with you.

As I said on another thread, I think Rush’s stunt was too cute by half. Plus, on principle, I object to him using his “education podium” to teach people that their vote is something to be game or to be used in a psyche out.

Regardless of that, I think it’s way too risky to try to game the system like this. This is one for the Law of Unintended Consequences, methinks.

The reality is that all this did was increase the possibility that BOTH candidates will end up on the ticket, in whatever order.

That would not be helpful.

“Hillary will choose Obama for her veep and be the great uniter after her miraculous comeback.”

I agree. And McCain might as well take a six week vacation as Barack and Hillary will be all the talking heads yack about thru Pennsylvania.

Well, My Favorite Liberal has said she will vote for McCain if it comes down to Clinton/McCain in the Fall. But she has a lot of time to change her mind on that, so I would not take it to the bank.

It is a shame NJ does not have absentee ballots printed this early. I would get that one on paper and in the mail in a heartbeat!

She’s right! A very Naive core of Republicans opened the gates of hell in Ohio and Texas and kept the beast alive and kicking and there’s no turning back now. From here on out it’s all about the beast and a promise made to her that she will get that office. The ER’s around this great nation will be filled with all those choking on that popcorn they bought thinking this would do in the Dims.

I like the line of one caller to Rush's show, either yesterday or the day before. He said he didn't want to take chances and wanted to drive a stake in her while she was down.

“Don’t these bozos realize that women are the vast majority of voters and of the population.”

How right you are. Every time someone tells me McCain will win Florida because of the huge military/veteran vote here I tell them to look at the number of women voters here.
