NEW YORK (CBS) ― Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton hinted at the possibility of a democratic "dream ticket" with Sen. Barack Obama.
Speaking on the Early Show on CBS, Clinton said "that may be where this is headed, but we have to decide who is on the top of the ticket."
Clinton said the race between her and Obama remains "incredibly close," with just "smidgens of difference" between them.
Clinton's remarks after her campaign won two big states yesterday: Ohio and Texas. She also won Rhode Island. The wins enabled her campaign to break Obama's 12-state winning streak and pick up some momentum of its own.
Speaking later on the Early Show, Obama congratulated Clinton on her victories while maintaining he would be able to wrap up the democratic nomination.
"We still have close to an insurmountable lead in delegates," Obama said. Obama said his campaign had won nearly twice as Clinton as well as a greater share of the popular vote.
I’ll take what I can get.
We’ll be fighting with one hand behind our backs if we’re afraid of being called racists by criticizing Hussein. It’s time for the Democrats to take some of their own medicine. Blacks upset if Hillary steals the MI, FL delegates.
Increased primary turnout doesn’t translate into increased election turnout.
In the general election, more people turn out because they think it matter more. This time, on the democratic side, more of those voters have decided that the primary matters, so more have shown up. There’s no evidence that the increased primary turnout isn’t simply a larger number of the people who turned out in the 2004 general election.
If you manage to get 50% of the last election general voters to show up, instead of 25%, you really haven’t done much.
But, realise that if you really hate the idea of a black, or a woman, you will have been “motivated” to show up to vote for the opponent. So the increased turnout could be a reflection of how much the democrats DON’T want to vote for either of the two candidates.
“I’ve been saying this from the start. If the dems have a Hitlery/Osama ticket then McInsane is toast, because there’s enough googoo-eyed idiot Dhummies that will vote in droves to elect the first woman/black ticket just because it will be viewed by the world as SOOOO progressive.
Hang on to your hats. It’s gonna be a rough 4-8 years. I pray I’m wrong.”
That has also been my fear. I was against helping Hillary win in Texas and Ohio because I wanted her out as soon as possible. Now she has a good chance of winning the nomination and with Obama added to the ticket by the DNC I fear McCain would not win in November.
Last night about 10:00 CST when he was on a stage talking about the nights results. I was thunderstruck that he said it that way but I guess it just flew right by everybody else.
He said it clear, grew up herding sheep in Kenya, came to America, married a white woman, blah blah blah. I couldn’t believe it. I emailed a question about him saying it to Joe Scarborough just for fun.
Oh... you mean the boat?
Uh, nevermind, just a stupid old Welcome Back Kotter reference...
Cunning Hillary wants the Prez job so badly she’ll resort to deceit, showing her true self and egotistical intentions again. Her coy “hint” of taking Obama as her VP is her Trojan Horse to those leaning towards Obama in the remaining primaries. Next she’ll be saying to Democrats “ Look, with me as President you will truly get two for the price of one, Obama & me, the perfect team (the first woman president and first Black vice-president) for all Democrats.”
Don’t buy it! She’s two face, and this is a little farce of some genius (probably Bill). This hint is a way of really screwing Obama good. No way should he wait 8 years to try to become president again, for she will surely kick him to the curb as soon as she wins the nomination.
“The fate of McCains campaign and perhaps the country depends on Obamas decision.”
I think it depends on Mac’s veep. Very crucial. He better do it smart.
Santorum.
Hillary wouldnt share a lifeboat on the Titanic with Obama.
It will be interesting to see if anyone makes mention of this.
I don’t see Obama picking Hillary as his VP. First of all, her negatives are through the roof — she’s outright despised by over half the country. Secondly, I can’t imagine Obama being too comfortable with Bill Clinton looming over his shoulder for (at least) four years. ...and he would. And lastly, there’s always Arkancide to consider.
The picture that this paints is ugly regardless of whose on top.
You are absolutely right. I don't think Clinton and Obama would have many choices except to form a ticket. That would force McCain to put either a woman or a minority (or both in one package) on his ticket, probably further alienating all those "real" conservatives out there who need very little incentive to get all disgruntled.
McCain is an exceptionally weak candidate under the best of circumstances. Up against a powerhouse Clinton-Obama (or Obama-Clinton) ticket, I don't see how he wins even if every last Republican and conservative goes out and votes for him -- and we know he won't be able to get close to a 100% Republican/conservative turnout.
I suspect he was talking about his father, not himself.
Obama has the white race already in his family background, so why since he’s already partly white would it make sense to stress that he married a white woman? My anwer is: it wouldn’t. Very odd way of putting it, indeed. The logical way of putting it would be that he grew up in Kenya, then came to America and married an AMERICAN woman, not a white woman.

She's pathetic.
