Religious and cultural traditions collide in odd ways.
Is it right to tell election poll workers, assigned to Mormon church meeting houses, to not bring coffee, sodas or anything else caffeinated to refresh themselves during their long day tending to voters?
-SNIP-
First, lets look at the polling place duties and sipping Maxwell House in the meeting house.
Longtime Tempe poll worker Mary Ann Hemmingson has signed up to work the polls for the March 11 election. Shell spend her 14- or 15-hour day in a church, but no longer one that belongs to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
I never sign up to work at a Mormon church because the board workers there are not allowed to have any caffeine on the premises, she said. That means no coffee in the morning and no Diet Coke in the afternoon. ... You dont want to see what I look like without my daily dose of caffeine. Its not a pretty picture.
The Word of Wisdom portion of the Doctrine and Covenants, put forth in 1833 by church founder and prophet Joseph Smith, says that hot drinks are not for the body or belly. Add to that what H. Burke Peterson, first counselor in the Presiding Bishopric, said in 1975: We know that cola drinks contain the drug caffeine. We know caffeine is not wholesome nor prudent for the use of our bodies. It is only sound judgment to conclude that cola drinks and any others that contain caffeine or other harmful ingredients should not be used.
Advising followers to restrict what they take into their bodies is one thing, but applying that mandate to those people who perform a public job inside their buildings in a one-day stint seems to be taking things too Far.

A person is entitled to have faith after once he or she done all within ones power. ~ Brigham Young on Faith.
2 Nephi 25
23 For we labor diligently to write, to persuade our children, and also our brethren, to believe in Christ, and to be reconciled to God; for we know that it is by grace that we are saved, after all we can do.
Resty, resty - have you not read this book completely through?
It seems you do not understand Abraham who was obedient to the Lord when he did take his Son Isaac to be sacrificed.

Than the prophecy of Heavenly Father provided His Son for the redemption of mankind!
The Lords covenants did not changed
The reason you have 30k plus churches and doctrines is because the Bible is subject to every whim that comes down the pike
The Book of Mormon is consistent there is no equivocation or left up to mans life style or comfort zone of obedient.
It is written in the Bible for those who want to take responsibility to endure to the end!
Matt. 24:
13 But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved.
Mark 13:
13 And ye shall be hated of all men for my names sake: but he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved.
James 5:
11 Behold, we count them happy which endure. Ye have heard of the patience of Job, and have seen the end of the Lord; that the Lord is very pitiful, and of tender mercy.
1 Ne. 22:
31 Wherefore, ye need not suppose that I and my father are the only ones that have testified, and also taught them. Wherefore, if ye shall be obedient to the commandments, and endure to the end, ye shall be saved at the last day. And thus it is. Amen
D&C 14:
7 And, if you keep my commandments and endure to the end you shall have eternal life, which gift is the greatest of all the gifts of God.
3 Ne. 15:
9 Behold, I am the law, and the light. Look unto me, and endure to the end, and ye shall live; for unto him that endureth to the end will I give eternal life.
The Bible wording leaves room for many to debate on the meaning the word of the Lord, in the Book of Mormon leaves no doubt of what man should do.
Your reward is what you are willing to put into it!

A person is entitled to have faith after once he or she done all within ones power. ~ Brigham Young on Faith.

A person is entitled to have faith after once he or she done all within ones power. ~ Brigham Young on Faith.
How does a person KNOW that they have done "every thing in their power"?
You, who chide others to 'stay on topic', do YOU "stay on topic"?
"We do not indorse the teachings of any so-called Mormons or Latter Day Saints, which are in conflict with the gospel of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, as taught in the New Testament and the Book of Mormon. They have departed in a great measure from the faith of the Church of Christ as it was first established, by heeding revelations given through Joseph Smith, who, after being called of God to translate his sacred word--the Book of Mormon--drifted into many errors and gave many revelations to introduce doctrines, ordinances and offices in the church, which are in conflict with Christ's teachings."
-- David Whitmer (an elder in the Church of Christ), 1887
Today, there are as many as 100 organizations claiming to be a part of the Latter Day Saint movement, most centered in Utah or Missouri. Most regard their own group, however small, to be the only legitimate Christian church. Most of these organizations are very small, but overall, but the second largest denomination, the Community of Christ, reports over 200,000 members.
Just a sampling...........
These groups mean nothing just like in the days of Jesus the apostles who also had other gropus who tried to claim authority!
It seems you won't answer my question. Have you not read the entire Book of Romans?
That whole audio is a fake that is not the decorum of what a worthy LDS because that would be misuse of the Lord’s priesthood.
Also if one is a non member or x member there would be no need to even use such talk.
An Imposter would do that out of ignorance.

And a mere wave of the hand, the Queen dismisses those who displease her.
