The rap star Juvenile is "shocked and devastated" by the shooting death of his young daughter, the girl's mother and another child, his manager said Saturday.
The 32-year-old rapper is still trying to cope with the death of 4-year-old Jelani; her mother, 39-year-old Joy Deleston; and the woman's daughter Micaiah, 11, whose bodies were found Thursday night in their home, said manager Aubrey Francis.
"It really shocked him and devastated him to the point where I've never seen him before," Francis said. "Right now he is relaxing and trying to grasp everything of what has happened."
Meanwhile, 17-year-old Anthony Tyrone Terrell Jr. is being held in the DeKalb County jail, charged in the deaths of his mother — a Gwinnett County sheriff's deputy — and siblings at the home near Lawrenceville, outside Atlanta. He was arrested Friday.
Deleston brought a paternity lawsuit in 2004, claiming that Juvenile, whose real name is Terius Gray, was Jelani's father, Gwinnett County court records show. Both parties later agreed Juvenile was the father.
Juvenile, who is in New Orleans, had been making regular child support payments, Francis said.
In 1998, Juvenile released his third album, "400 Degreez," which sold 4 million copies. At one time he was part of the four-man group The Hotboyz, along with Lil Wayne, Young Turk and B.G.
Attorney Randy Kessler, who represented Juvenile in the paternity suit, said Saturday he had not talked with the rapper about the killings.
"Any time you have a situation like that, it's shocking," Kessler said.
Terrell was taken to jail in neighboring DeKalb County to avoid any potential conflict because Deleston worked for Gwinnett County, said Lawrenceville police spokeswoman Illana Spellman. She could not confirm Friday whether Deleston's service weapon was used.
Because of his age, prosecutors cannot seek the death penalty against Terrell. A preliminary hearing will be set next week in Gwinnett County Superior Court, prosecutor Danny Porter said.
Defense attorney Lyle Porter did not return calls Friday and Saturday.

Thanks MG. Reading the lyrics was so “enlightening”. Geeesh, what filth. Is that all “they” think about? These jacklegs could never and will never have a real job. It’s the only thing they know. And some of them die because of it. You never saw this in the competition between The Beatles and The Rolling Stones. Nor do you see it between George Strait and Alan Jackson. All they did and do is write good songs that people like us here like to hear. George and Alan don’t have contracts out on each other. Why do these thugs feel that that’s the way to live. Don’t like your rival? Pop a cap on him and you win all the arguments. Except when someone pops a cap on you. And it will happen to this thug. Just a matter of time.

Though of course we know how, uh, Oedipal, a literal read of Rap lyrics can be. They may not be a bunch of dumb Mother-Shooters, but they go on and on about another option.

Gentlemen, it may have eluded you thus far, but all your money does not insulate you from the fact that 99% are losers with a capital L, who tend to attract an entourage of complete idiots. The fact that "rhyming real good" about prostitutes and drugs seems to make adolescent white kids go all gushy with envy and Liberal-guilt has always, and will forever, astound and sadden me. Still, even though I make a fraction of your money every year, even I can see that my chances of having myself or those I love "capped" is infinitely smaller than the brutal and short-lived existence you face every day.
Here is my five-point plan to save your life.
1) Fire your entire staff and change your name from "The Funky Masta Foo" or "Dubiious" to something like "Wally Anderson".
2) Move the hell out of NYC or LA to somewhere here in the Midwest.
3) Convert all your cash into some kind of trust fund which pays you a regular set amount every month so you can't wizz it away on drugs and women.
4) If you absolutely must create music, I suggest joining the Society for the Preservation and Encouragement of Barbershop Quartet Singing in America, as you almost never hear of those clean-cut, four-part harmony Barbershop quartet singers being involved in gangland shoot-outs over their Beyatches.
5) Send me 1/10th of your available cash for explaining this all to you. Slowly. In small words.

I'll try to explain it as untediously as possible, but the explanation will still be tedious.
In the pre-hiphop world of the 70s to "rap" was to smooth-talk. If someone was good at talking his why into ladies' bedrooms, or at selling stuff, or at explaining his way out of trouble he had "a good rap."
Isaac Hayes had a series of songs in the late 60s/early 70s called Ike's Rap I", "Ike's Rap II" etc. all featuring Hayes' spoken word seductions over a funky instrumental.
In the mid- to late-70s, breakbeat DJs started the very first hip-hop musical events. They employed MCs (masters of ceremony) to be their hosts. These MCs would exhort people to dance, comment on the dancing prowess of attendees, compliment attractive women in the audience, make announcements, hawk new recordings, advertise upcoming breakbeat dances, etc. - increasingly in rhyme as time went on.
Many of these MCs were called "rappers" because of their glibness and smooth-talking.
The first-ever hiphop record to chart was called "Rapper's Delight", and since then most casual fans of hiphop have called hiphop "rap" and the MCs who rhyme over the beats as "rappers", but on the East Coast - especially in NYC, the artist who speaks the lyrics is normally called an MC.

Hardly. The poster above ventured the opinion that his daughter's killer was inspired by his music.
But his music doesn't contain any exhortations to kill one's own mother or sisters, so I doubt his music was the inspiration for this killing spree.
