The mayor of the small Italian town of Cervino, north of Naples, has been found burnt alive in his car, in a Mafia-style killing.
Police quoted by Italian media say Mayor Giovanni Piscitelli, 52, was shot and wounded and his feet bound with wire. Then his car was set alight.
Reports said Mr Piscitelli had recently acted against some municipal staff and the dispute had been featured on TV.
Police have not yet named any suspects in the case.
Mr Piscitelli's charred body was found next to his car - apparently after he had managed to open a door to escape the flames.
The car was in a mountainous area a few kilometres from Cervino.
The centre-left mayor was elected in 2004.
ehh... he slipped on a bar of soap!
yeah... dats it... slipped on a bar a soap...
I don’t know nuthin’
I wonder if this is somehow connected to the garbage problem in Naples.
Nassuno sa, la veritas.
‘Burnt’ = Britspeak for ‘burned’ (for those of you in Rio Linda)

and don’t hold your breath. Forget about it!
If he was in Arkansas, it would be ruled a suicide.

Methinks this mayor was on the wrong side of a “family” squabble...........
“Forget about it!”
Isn’t this the Mickey Blue Eyes way of saying it?
I thought it was, “Fu-ged aboud it.”
The authorities should ask themselves what they did to cause this to happen. This is the way liberals approach heinous acts of murder. They usually call it the “root cause” and it always points to conservatives or George Bush.
Fuggidaboudit.
I was in Naples in October, what a bad area. Our taxi driver kept saying that he was worried and that the area was filled with ‘bad men’.
The area around the airport looks pretty ghetto.
I thought it was, Fu-ged aboud it.
That works....
Ping.
