U.N. Criticizes U.S. For Violating Human Rights Of Internally Displaced Hurricane Katrina Victims

United Nations Headquarters (AHN) - Long an advocate for poor internally displaced persons in third world countries, the United Nations on Thursday called on the United States government to halt demolition of low-income housing in New Orleans saying it violated the human rights of Hurricane Katrina victims and was driving them into "destitution."

In a strongly worded statement posted on its news center website, U.N. experts on housing and minority rights called the Bush administration to task for its treatment of Hurricane Katrina victims in New Orleans and elsewhere.

"We are deeply concerned about information we continue to receive about the housing situation of people in New Orleans, Louisiana and the Gulf Coast region," Miloon Kothari, the Special Rapporteur on adequate housing as a component of the right to an adequate standard of living, and Gay McDougall, the Independent Expert on minority issues, said in a joint statement.

What's next?

Will they send in Hans Blix?

Sanctions. Yeah, that'll work.

Would the UN give a rat's butt about this matter if the majority of the perpetual victims from Katrina were not black?

If the UN is so concerned about these perpetual victims from Katrina, why doesn't it spend some of its sizeable fortune to house them for the rest of their perpetually victimized lives?

For the life of me, I can’t remember the actions taken by the U.N. or the amount of money spent by the U.N. to help the victims of hurricane Katrina.

I wonder if the U.N. High Commissioner for Human Rights and council members ever found that the rights (the most important of which being the Right To Life) of the citizens of Rwanda had been violated? Or the citizens of Srebrenica? Or the victims of abortions, for that matter?

.

Sanctions are bad enough but I’m afraid they’ll go further and stop sending U.N. emergency funds.

I remember.

19 times, the UN sanctioned Saddam Hussein and his stockpiles of WMD’s.

19 times he “gave them the finger”.

Then one day US troops invaided Iraq....

No more useless UN resolutions after that.

According to the U.N.: The U.S. is EEEVVVVIIIILLLLL! Of course they are going to criticise the U.S. often for anything and everything! My question is still why not get the U.N. out of the U.S., and then get the U.S. out of the U.N.? Jeez!

The fact that the UN even dares to critizise the internal affairs of their host country is only an indication of the contempt they have for it.

And why shouldn’t they? Its government is willing to take it gratefully in the *ss, every time.
