: Blame Penn by Jason Horowitz | February 28, 2008
Harold Ickes definitely doesnt buy the argument that Mark Penn isnt responsible for everything that has happened to the Hillary Clinton campaign.
Mark Penn has run this campaign, said Ickes in a brief phone interview this morning. Besides Hillary Clinton, he is the single most responsible person for this campaign.
Now, he has been circumscribed to some extent by Maggie Williams, said Ickes, who then pointed out that that was only a recent development.
When asked about the assertion by one senior Clinton official the campaign was effectively run by committee, diluting Penns authority, Ickes was incredulous.
I dont know what campaign youre talking about, said Ickes. I have been at meetings where he introduces himself as the campaigns chief strategist. Ive heard him call himself that many times, say, I am the chief strategist.
Asked if Penn preferred the title of chief strategist to pollster, Ickes said, Prefer it? He insists on it!
When asked if Penn was therefore responsible for the campaigns strategy, Ickes said, Its pretty plain for anyone to see that he has shaped the strategy of the campaign. He has called the shots.

Yeah the finger pointing has started already. More popcorn please.
Its all about Hillary’s fatal personality flaws. Many of us knew Hillary would never become President, regardless of who she had around her.
Typical of this group. Blame everyone except Hillary Clinton who has managed to scuttle her campaign by allowing the voters to see her inadequate persona and total lack of sincerity. Kudos to her husband also.

With the Klintoons it’s all about I, I, I, and ME, ME, ME.
Rearranging deck chairs
And Ickes knows a lot more about how things are going than anyone in the media.
Some have even resorted to a kind of Wile E. Coyote strategy to vote for Hillary (complete with Acme blueprints) to show how they will finally catch the roadrunner by running off a cliff.
I don’t care who the Chief Stratagist is, you can only do so much with what you’ve got and he never had much to work with to begin with.
He is just about the worst person currently drawing breath on earth, and definitely the most contemptible.
No blame for the ‘fatally flawed’ candidate?
Then besides Hillary Clinton, he's the single most responsible person for losing.
Well, Harold, I hope your life insurance is paid up............
She’s certainly dead for 2008. The Clintons are about to become the two biggest McCain fans on the planet, albeit in the closet. If McCain wins then Hillary will have one last shot in 2012.
All of Hitlery’s old cronies, i.e. Harold Ickes, Bruce Lindsey, Paul Bergala, Maggie Williams and even Bubba thought for sure that they had cabinet posts all wrapped up in the Hitlery Clinton administration. Now they are finding out that their dreams are being torn to shreds as her base jumps ship for Barack Hussein Obama. It doesn’t get any better than this.
is this the same “Mark Penn” that was bragging about how many Republican women were going to vote for Hillary? He better hope that those Republican women swarm the poles in Tex to help bail her thighness out.
Wow! I need my glasses! On first read I thought Maggie Williams had Circumcised Penn!
Exactly, that is kinda like Rumsfield, when he said you go to war with what you got..not what you want..Mrs William Clinton, wife of the impeached ex president, did not have much going for her any way.. except her screechy voice, and witchy laugh..
