I guess they finally caved and let him fight. Good for him.

because their ancestors were "magnificent soldiers". There's no reason he shouldn't carry on the tradition and earn his birthright.

Agreed. Britain should be proud of their young prince.

Well, you WOULD be right that I wouldn't do it in the streets of England. Yes. I would not be so gauche a visitor like that. That isn't being a nice person.

If ASKED, however, I'd speak my mind as I did so just recently in Canada, for instance.

I should also say this.... I see NO reason for an American to leave these great United States (unless he is on real business or is in the military). There is NO REASON to visit any other country. There is nothing worth the waste of money and time to see that you can't see here.

Now, I also have to say that I will apologize a bit to our Brits out there. This from Drudge...

PRINCE HARRY FIGHTS ON FRONTLINES IN AFGHANISTAN; 3 MONTH TOUR Thu Feb 28 2008 11:37:52 ET

They're calling him "Harry the Hero!"

British Royal Prince Harry has been fighting in Afghanistan since late December -- and has been directly involved in battle.

Australian magazine NEW IDEA and the German daily BILD have broken world embargoes on the development. CNN has debated internally on the merits of reporting Harry at war.

The prince, a junior officer in the Blues and Royals, and third in line to the throne, has been a "magnificent soldier" and an "inspiration to all of Briton."

Prince Harry is talking part in a new offensive against the Taliban.

Ministry of Defense and Clarence House refuse all comment. Army chiefs have managed to keep the prince away from media and have encourage fellow soldiers in his squadron to stay quiet.

GREAT news of a VERY upright young man!

Way to GO England!

We have a young generation that is proving to be among the best fighting units we have ever had. And now this from England. Just more raw courage.

We should all be encouraged that he and his family are willing to do this.

Good job for Prince Harry. He's in the British military and that's where troops go just like many members of the royal family have gone into battle through history.

Lame! for Drudge for pumping this up. This wasn't a "Dramatic Development on War".

Now just imagine what the news would be like if one of the Bush twins was in the military and was sent to Iraq or Afghanistan for a tour of duty.

“Australian magazine NEW IDEA and the German daily BILD have broken world embargoes on the development. CNN has debated internally on the merits of reporting Harry at war”

Its being kept secret for obvious reasons; their enemies are already being paid several times per day what they could earn in a month doing something legal. What wonderful incentive to step up attacks and in doing so, not only get themselves a once in a lifetime trophy but makes things even more dangerous for his comrades. Great. Sometimes I wonder whether freedom of the press is really good idea; its not as if these people contribute anything of any value.

Good for Harry but I don’t think it should be broadcast, makes Harry and even bigger target.

I'll step in here, amid the brit - bashing, just to establish a pro Harry quote for the lurkers.

It does not matter what you think of royalty or the UK, you still have to give Harry credit. He's on the short end of the royal family stick, last in line in a currently uninspiring family, atop a country that seems to be farther down the road to concession than we are. He could easily stay home and just party, the tabloids would love it.

He's been fighting to serve in combat since he got his bars (pips?) and he's managed to get there despite family and goverment objections. I just hope that he's already been there for most of the tour and that Drudge hasn't set the stage for a purple heart pool.

OK: Sky/Fox just announced that he's serving in a fairly secure air control slot and apparently nearing the end of his tour.

err, medieval buildings eg the Tower of London (or anything from the middle ages), built 300 years before America was even discovered, let alone became a republic? We do very well out of American tourism thank you very much - and I doubt its anything to do with the weather. Now book that flight and come over.

I agree, the release of this story puts Prince Harry and his comrades in grave danger - and it puts the Prince in the awful position of having to be transferred before their mission is finished.

Bravo to Prince Harry and his brave British stalwarts fighting in Afghanistan - and boo to Drudge for endangering them all...

I’m proud of the young man. I thought he’d wind up on the trash heap of irrelevancy and turn into a gin swilling party boy. I’m very sorry Drudge blew the lid on it, as it puts him and his men in further danger. It isn’t always about suppression of the news by an irresponsible press corps. Sometimes, it gives our dear brave boys (and girls) the cover to get their jobs done. I salute this beautiful, bonnie boy of Diana’s. Hear, hear!
