Don’t think I’m taking it seriously

If I did my reply would've been something more substantial than a Wikipedia source.

This is so foolish. They’re willing to stoop to any low.

Here’s a quote from Wikipedia:

“McCain was born on August 29, 1936, at the Coco Solo Air Base in the then-American-controlled Panama Canal Zone[2] to Navy officer John S. “Jack” McCain, Jr. (1911–1981) and Roberta (Wright) McCain (b. 1912).”

So because his parents were out serving their country on a US Military base outside the United States, that should somehow disqualify him from serving as President? How low can the NY Times go? I guess a lot lower than even we thought! Maybe we should just fight this all the way to SCOTUS and see what the American people think of the tactics used against their service people. People shouldn’t be penalized because their parents were serving their country in the Armed Forces. This is Berkley low.

I think we’re watching the NYT commit ritual suicide.

LOL!

The NYT has egg all over its face from their last huge screwup, and probably found FR from Googling all the commentary about that fiasco. And now the idiots at the NYT are reading some very old threads from here.

Unfortunately for them, they only read thread titles without reading the full commentary from Freepers.

Indeed, it appears to be ritual suicide.

Since I haven’t read the NYT piece, I have to concede that they may be raising the issue of what a “natural born citizen” means under Article II of the Constitution. It would be nice to think that the text of one of our founding documents made a difference to them. But it would also be out of character.

It would be funnier if it wasn’t so true...

He was probably born in an American Military Hospital to an American military, and his wife, an American citizenm\, serving in the Canal. Therefore he is an AMERICAN. I wish these to called brilliant people running for or guiding a candidate to the Whitehouse, would learn a little bit of American history. I’m amazed with the unlearned running these campaigns. And to think if they win the Whitehouse what we’ll be up against.

And then there are the folks asking the question: If he wasn’t good enough to make admiral like his father and grandfather, is he good enough to be president...and they say the answer is “No”. Surrrprize, Surprize

“He was born to American parents on foreign soil,”

Assuming he was born at Ancon Hospital, he was born on american soil, in fact.

Our youngest daughter was born in Kenya, but is an American citizen since both parents are American (one would have been enough).

You're right. My son was born in Germany and is as American as Apple Pie.

As for me, he has my vote. Like Dennis Miller says, he’s the only one willing to go after the bad guys.

Problem is McNuts thinks Conservatives are the bad guys.

This is awesome! The NYT is even dumber than I have given them credit for. I hope it’s a huge front page story with big, pretty pics!

Yes...they were onboard way before he was born.

I don't know if two years is "way before", but it was before.

You got me nervous there. Hawaii hasn't been a state for 50 years yet. You got me wondering just how young Obama was. (Still older than I am.)

Yeah, I just realized that.

Hawaii became a state when I was 17 (now 66) and I had ready somewhere that Obama was 40 (give or take a year or two).

Me too. I previously swore that I would never vote for him, but looks like I’m going to eat my words. Can’t vote for Hillary or Obama. They are both socialists.

Me too.

Pray every day that McCain is replaced at the convention by a real Republican.

Yep, he is a citizen, just like my daughter who was born in the US Army 97th General Hospital in Frankfurt Germany when I was assigned to the 3rd Armored division in the 1980, and hundreds of other military brats born there whose fathers/mothers were GIs

I wonder if the Times raised this issue when the evil Sen Lowell Weicker ran for president in 1980. He was in the race about 3 seconds before he had to withdraw because he knew NO ONE wanted him as the nominee. He was born in France when his American parents were vacationing there.
