Sixty-Six Percent Say 'Smear!' The Gray Lady's smear piece on John McCain got 66% of Rasmussen respondents believing that the paper deliberately trying to kneecap the Republican frontrunner. Only 22% think that the paper had clean motives in publishing the unsubstantiated gossip:
The Times recently became enmeshed in controversy over an article published concerning John McCain. Sixty-five percent (65%) of the nations likely voters say they have followed that story at least somewhat closely. Of those who followed the story, 66% believe it was an attempt by the paper to hurt the McCain campaign. Just 22% believe the Times was simply reporting the news. Republicans, by an 87% to 9% margin, believe the paper was trying to hurt McCains chances of winning the White House. Democrats are evenly divided.

Backfire!
Taken from a poll of registered voters likely to select J. Sydney McQueeg.
When are you and the other guy on FR that doesn’t like McCain going to realize there is not a voting block large enough to elect a real Republican conservative at this time and that not voting for our nominee is sending a meaningless gesture to a party that doesn’t care because they already know this?
Now we have confirmation. 22 percent of the population are morons.
No conservative ran (very hard) or is running now...
I think the blatant smear had no legs. If anything it helped Mcain!
When are the rest of you going to realize you’re being DUPED?
This Party over Principle stuff is getting real old, fast.
If the Times really wanted to “smear” McCain, they would have run the story back in December.
Probably after his mother kicks him out of her basement for his failure to launch...
When are conservatives going to accept responsilibity for a dismal showing in the primaries?
I always thought Democrats were the party of crybabies who blamed others first.
“This Party over Principle stuff is getting real old, fast.”
Would you be willing to explain what options we have, then? Seriously, I’m not jabbing you, but I don’t see Hillary or Barack as options for us at this juncture. What else is left to us but McCain?
It makes even less sense when the nominee will gut conservatives remaining within the GOP if he is elected and “reeducate” the rest. I can’t vote for someone sponsored by Soros.
Nov 4th, 2008 around 7:00 pm EST for a very few. Most will be gnawing their arms off in fits of McCain inspired delusional rage.
Do you know how pathetic that sounds?
IMO, let the Libs have it for the next 4 yrs. (but, not without a large wall to climb) It will let the RNC know we are a force to be reckoned with and let America and the world see just how badly Socialism operates. Conservatism, expressed in it proper form by a proper candidate, will win out. McQueeg is not an option, he’s a mirror image.
“When are conservatives going to accept responsilibity for a dismal showing in the primaries?”
When the RNC puts forth and supports a candidate who doesn’t get most of his votes from Dims, Mods and Indys.
“Do you know how pathetic that sounds?”
I can imagine, but it would only be pathetic if I put my faith in politicians.
I do not.
Not even close.
The media knows it is held in low regards, yet it knows that if it says the same thing often enough, it's message gets through regardless of it's merits.
The NY Times will take it's lumps over this, but it and the rest of the media will keep dredging up story after story about McCain. Some will have more credibility that this one, others won't. However, it will persist in bringing McCain's integrity into question again and again, until people start believing that because of the number of the claims, that some of them must be true.
It took the media quite a while to turn public opinion against the war in Iraq, but they kept at it until they got even supporters of the war questioning if it was really worth it.
They are starting small. After all, the McCain hasn't been officially crowned the Republican nominee yet. However, this is just the beginning, and they will undoubtedly have a lot of stories with a lot more credibility than that one to pile on.
This was just testing the waters to measure the publics reaction.
And those people are either stupid or they are lying liberals.
Yes, as aways, keep you faith in your Maker.
